Harwin Provides Industry with Smallest & Most Lightweight Mixed-Layout Connectors to Date

Featuring cable, vertical & right-angle PCB versions that all support 10A current delivery IBASE Announce SMARC

2.0 CPU Modules based on NXP i.MX8M Processors

I

BASE Technology has announced the RM-N8M Series SMARC 2.0 Computer-on-Modules using 64-bit NXP i.MX8M

application processors with ARM technologies for industrial and transportation computing solutions. Measuring only 82mm by 50mm, the new RM-N8M SMARC Series targets lower power and small form factor systems and features high flexibility in terms of platform design and customisation for end-user applications for smart factory, imaging, machine vision, gateway, in-flight entertainment and rolling stock applications, while reducing development and accelerating time to market. Equipped with 3GB soldered LPDDR4 and up to 64GB

eMMC Flash memory, it has an extensive set of I/O support with 1x GbE, 2x USB 3.0/2.0, 2x MIPI CSI-2 video inputs, 2x PCI-E (x1) Gen2, 2x SPI/eSPI, 4x UART, 4x I2C, 2x I2S, and 12x GPIO. Display connections are provided by a 1080p MIPI Display Serial Interface (DSI) and HDMI V2.0a with up to 4K resolution.

introduction of mixed-layout versions of the company’s popular Gecko-SL series. By complementing the data contacts with 2 or 4 power contacts (in power/data configurations of either 1+8+1 or 2+8+2), the Gecko-MT products enable significant space and weight reductions in electronic hardware. This means that they address modern system designs where major constraints can be placed on these parameters. The respective power and data current ratings are 10A and 2.8A max per contact.

H

The initial release comprises female and male cable connectors, plus female vertical and male right-angle PCB connector options. These components are fitted with sturdy, stainless steel screw-lok fixings (in both conventional and reversed formats), to ensure ongoing interconnect integrity in even the most challenging of application environments. They have 20G vibration and 100G shock resilience and their operational temperature range spans from -65°C to 150°C. Low outgassing properties are also exhibited.

By encompassing both data and power in a single compact and lightweight solution, Gecko-MT connectors are highly optimised for avionics, defence, space, and motorsport. Among the key target applications are robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), battery management and satellites. They are available from stock and through Harwin’s distribution network. In addition, cable assemblies can be requested for manufacture by Harwin’s in-house operations.

“By specifying Gecko-MT, engineers will be able to streamline their designs, improve size and weight profiles and reduce bill-of-materials costs by using a smaller and lower-cost component than comparable Micro-D connectors,” states John Brunt, Product Manager for High-Reliability at Harwin. “By combining together power and signal in one robust mating pair, savings can be made in both weight and space, without any compromise in performance or longevity.”

New industrial 12-inch TFT-LCDs boost viewing performance and power efficiency

T

wo new 12-inch colour TFT displays from Display Technology Ltd offer superior performance for applications that require consistent readability in challenging conditions or full-HD with high image quality and low power

consumption. The AUO G121EAN01.2 12.1" WXGA display has outstanding white luminance of 1000Cd/m2 (typical) to display

images, graphics, and text clearly under a high level of ambient light. The wide viewing angle, 89° in both axes, ensures consistent visual performance and eases use in equipment such as machine-control panels, ticketing systems, and small displays for exhibition booths, museums, galleries, or similar. The operating ambient-temperature range of -30°C to 85°C allows use in industrial or outdoor settings, and the built-in LED-backlight driver simplifies system integration. The 12.5” LG LP125WF4-SPQ1 has an ultra-slim 2.85mm profile for use where space is at a premium. With full HD

1920 x 1080 resolution in a 290mm x 170mm outline, the LP125WF4-SPQ1 features the latest embedded DisplayPort (eDP) interface that delivers a combination of high speed and frame rate, low power -- drawing just 2.8W (typical) overall -- and low EMI. Display Technology can provide a companion LVDS-to-eDP interface board, LVDS2EDP-03, to ease integration with systems that provide only an LVDS output, such as some industrial PCs. Each of the displays features a 30-way connector that allows simple connection to the host system, requiring

only the eDP or LVDS display signals, low-voltage logic power supply, and 12V backlight power supply. Both are in stock now at Display Technology. Please visit the website or call for further information and to place an order.

luke Process Instruments extends its Thermalert 4.0 spot pyrometer series, adding new shortwave versions

and various additional interface options. The compact, extremely robust infrared thermometers provide noncontact, automatic temperature monitoring. Three new spectral models measuring at wavelengths of 1 m, 1.6 m, and 2.3 m have been primarily designed for high- temperature applications and are particularly suitable for monitoring metal, steel, and glass. The full Thermalert 4.0 lineup covers measuring temperatures between -40 °C and 2300 °C and offers various different spectral models and focus distances. All models are now available with connectivity options for Ethernet, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET IO, in addition to analog or RS485 interfaces. Voltage can be supplied via Power over Ethernet (PoE). The Thermalert 4.0 series features an outstanding high maximum operating temperature of 85 °C. Users can therefore save costs by setting up many measuring points without cooling.
