TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL

Harwin partners with Festo to achieve ‘most ambitious’ Gecko connector assembly machine

Astute Electronics launches Amphenol waterproof USB connectors

services, has introduced a range of waterproof USB connectors from Amphenol LTW Technology. The range includes USB 3.0 A, 2.0 A and 2.0 B types, plus Mini USB 2.0 B and Micro USB 2.0 AB models. All versions are waterproof to IP67 or IP68 with a current rating of 1.5A. Devices have gold-plated copper alloy contacts and the connector body is made from PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) to UL94V-0 flammability. Temperature range for the receptacle is -20 to +80˚C or -40 to +105˚C depending on type. Specifications include contact resistance up to 30mΩ,

A insulation resistance

1000mΩ at 500V DC, and breakdown voltage above 500V

AC for one minute. Amphenol LTW’s

waterproof USB connectors are field installable and come with standard cable lengths of 1 to 5m. For more information, please contact:

AWS Electronics Group

stute Electronics, the leading supplier of electronic components and value added

arwin, the leading hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer, has announced that it has designed and installed its largest ever assembly line, built in partnership with Festo, the leading supplier of automation technology. The line was commissioned to service Harwin’s rapidly growing sales of its Gecko 1.25mm pitch high reliability connector family. By utilising Festo’s products throughout the machine design, compatibility issues that sometimes arise when using conflicting hardware were removed. Festo delivered a full range of pneumatics, PLCs,

H drives, motors and electric axis that

allowed Harwin to select the best suited technology in each area of the machine. The new assembly line also includes laser marking and it can automatically assemble the full range of Gecko products up to 50 contacts.

AWS Electronics adds dedicated high voltage manufacturing facility

WS Electronics Group, one of Europe’s leading specialist electronics manufacturing services providers, has added a new high voltage production capability to its plant in Newcastle Under Lyme.

A

The company has dedicated 1000 ft² of manufacturing space purely for work that requires up to 50kV; high currents of up to 180A can also be accommodated. The investment, worth at least £30k, has been made in response to demands from customers operating in the defence, medical and scientific instrumentation fields.

Once AWS has built up a

thorough hi-voltage expertise in the UK, the company may well replicate the facility at its low cost plant in Námestovo, Slovakia, which in most respects is a mirror image of the UK plant.

services, has introduced the Linear Technology LTC2380-24 24bit low-power SAR analogue-to- digital converter (ADC) with integrated digital filter. The LTC2380-24 is a low noise, low power, high- speed 24bit successive approximation register (SAR) 1.5 and 2.0Msps ADC with an integrated digital averaging filter. Operating from a 2.5V supply, it has a ±VREF fully differential input range with VREF from 2.5 to 5.1V. Power consumption is only 28mW and it achieves ±3.5ppm INL maximum and no missing codes at 24bit. The device has an easy to use integrated digital averaging filter that can average 1 to 65536 conversion results in real time, dramatically improving dynamic range from 101dB at 1.5Msps to 145dB at 30.5sps. No separate programming interface or configuration register is required.

A A high-speed SPI-compatible serial

interface supports 1.8, 2.5, 3.3 and 5V logic while also featuring a daisy-chain mode.
