SENSORS & SENSING SYSTEMS
PRODUCTS
In machine monitoring applications, especially where systems demand effective and reliable measurement of shaft vibration, position and speed on rotating plant, proximity sensors are playing an increasingly significant role. To meet requirements, SENSONICS offers a range of proximity probes, including a configurable universal driver option – the Senturion X eddy current proximity probe system (XPR04 Series). Suitable for all standard probe cable length
PROXIMITY PROBES DESIGNED FOR MACHINE MONITORING APPLICATIONS The gap voltage monitoring socket
assists with commissioning the probe system. A voltmeter can be connected directly to the driver through the 3.5mm standard audio socket to display the gap voltage at the point of installation, while the probe mechanical gap can then be adjusted to suite the application. The cable system incorporates snap
combinations, the XED04 driver incorporates a calibrated probe, extension cable and driver, and performs non-contact distance measurement targeting a rotating machine shaft utilising the eddy current principle. This combination forms a tuned circuit while the target material and variations in probe face to target distance are detected in this circuit by the driver. This type of measurement system provides a linearised voltage output proportional to target gap with a API670 standard nominal sensitivity of 7.87mV/um for 2.5mm measurement range (or extended range version 3.94mV/µm for 4mm measurement range). The driver unit offers DIP switch selectable system lengths of 5m, 7m or 9m, with a front panel green LED indicating the selected option.
lock connectors which require no torquing and provide a shake proof solution. The sensors have full compliance to the
API 670 standard, ensuring compatibility with third-party API670 compliant machine protection systems. Reliability of the system is underlined by Functional Safety certification to IEC 61508 SIL 2 as a single probe system. For applications within hazardous areas where there is potential
for explosive gases or dusts, Ex i intrinsically safe versions are available with ATEX/UKEX/IECEx/PESO certification.

PRECISE CURRENT TRANSDUCER FOR POWER ELECTRONICS APPLICATIONS The transducer supports current
A high-precision DP12IP current transducer, designed for isolated DC and AC current measurement in demanding PCB-mounted power electronics applications, is available from Danisense. Based on the company’s closed-loop
compensated fluxgate technology, the DP12IP series combines ppm-class accuracy with a maximum linearity error of just 10ppm and exceptional long-term stability. It is in a PCB- mount package featuring a form factor of only 32mm and weighing only 250g, allowing for integration into 1U power supplies and other space-constrained equipment.
measurement up to 18A and accommodates measurement resistors up to 100Ω at full scale. It uses fixed excitation frequency and second harmonic zero-flux detection to deliver highly stable and precise current measurement performance, the company explains. Typical applications include magnet power
supplies for particle accelerators, stable precision power supplies, precision servo drives for motion control, battery test benches, battery emulators, and power measurement and power analysis systems.

COMPACT INLINE MEASURING SYSTEM FOR 360-DEGREE 3D GEOMETRIC INSPECTION OF COMPLEX PROFILES
New from Micro-Epsilon is profileGAUGE X.LP-3D, an inline, non-contact, measuring system. This is designed for precise 3D geometrical inspection of a wide variety of surfaces, profiles and semi-finished products such as round or flat materials, square or hexagonal profiles, as well as complex, free-form shapes. System accuracy is up to ±5µm. The system comprises four integrated scanCONTROL laser profile
scanners that are positioned in the system frame at 90-degree intervals, enabling 360-degree profile acquisition of the measuring object. This arrangement also reduces shadowing in complex geometries. Each scanner projects a laser line simultaneously onto the measuring object. A precise height profile is calculated from the reflected light deformation, and the software merges the four individual profiles into one 3D data set and automatically evaluates defined inspection characteristics. This allows geometric features to be reliably evaluated and any

deviations detected directly in the ongoing production process. Depending on the measuring task, width, height, thickness, angle,
radii, depths, gap dimensions, diameters, as well as shape, position and target/actual deviations can be checked automatically. The system therefore supports continuous quality control in the production of profiles and semi-finished products. The profileGAUGE X.LP-3D is designed specifically for the respective
measurement object. The standard version, profileGAUGE X.LP-3D-50, offers a measuring range of 40mm. Depending on the profile size, geometry and relevant test characteristics, extended measuring ranges of up to 120mm are possible. For reproducible measurement conditions, the profileGAUGE X.LP-3D has a fully automatic calibration function. The compact system architecture reduces integration effort and facilitates
both integration into new plant concepts and retrofitting existing production lines. Measurement results can be transmitted directly to higher-level systems or to the machine control system via common industrial interfaces including EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, Profinet and Profibus. The profileGAUGE X.LP-3D therefore enables efficient inline quality assurance, early defect detection and stable process monitoring in, for example, extrusion lines and the production of semi-finished products.
