1500 NEW PRODUCTS ENHANCE RANGE PRODUCTS

In response to product requests across all sectors including automotive, health and home, energy, tech and infrastructure, TR Fastenings has expanded its product portfolio with 1500 new part numbers being added to its Plastic & Rubber Hardware range. The automotive industry in particular
has experienced the biggest surge in growth in the use of plastic components over machined metal parts, mainly driven by the continued global momentum of electric vehicle production. Manufacturers here are looking at using plastics as base materials to build automotive parts due to their lightweight properties, which can be 30% to 50% less compared to metal. New product ranges include:
• Screw Rivets. These provide a fastening that is simple to use and is removable. In automotive applications they are used in splash guards around wheel arches, internal upholstery, and bumper assemblies. Additional applications are in domestic appliances, marine, audio equipment and furniture fittings. • Barbed Push-in Rivets, also known as Fir Tree/Pin Tree Clips. These are designed to secure two panels together. Easy to install with a simple push-fit action, they are used in the automotive industry in wheel arch bumpers, splash shields, bumper assemblies, internal upholstery, and trim. Other applications include domestic appliances, furniture
and electrical/electronic equipment. • Kwik Nuts. These are designed to push fit onto a threaded stud then turned through 180˚ to secure in place, allowing a tool-free rapid installation. Automotive applications include vehicle acoustic engine liners and interior assemblies, but they are also used in air conditioning and ventilation equipment. • Push Screws, which combine the rapid installation of a Fir Tree Clip with the versatility of a conventional threaded screw. The part is designed to push fit and retain in a female thread, then be removed with a standard screwdriver. The part enables rapid tool free installation with pull out forces ranging from 50N (M3) to 210N (M8), making them ideal for decorative trims, seat trim panels and mounting brackets. • Shockproof Snap Rivets. These are a new development and an improvement on the standard design of a Snap Rivet. These have a locking mechanism under the head which resists pin movement when subject to mechanical shock or vibration, making them ideal for automotive interior applications, industrial lighting, pumps, heating, and ventilation. Heat resistant options are also available for applications where operating temperatures of up to 190˚C are required.

GUIDE DISPELS THE MYTHS ABOUT DISPENSING ROBOTS
According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) World Robot Report in 2021, the UK has a density of 101 robots per 10,000 employees, below the global average of 126. This slow
uptake extends to dispensing robots, which are typically used to automate the application of: adhesives, sealants, potting compounds, encapsulants, form in place gaskets, temporary masking, lubricants, and other liquids, fluids, and pastes. Intertronics has therefore released a new guide – ‘10 myths about dispensing robots’ – to help increase the adoption of dispensing automation. Myths include: Robots steal jobs; they are too expensive; the payback period on an investment will be too long; and they need to operate 24/7. These are just a few that are dispelled in the guide. The guide also covers installation, safety, flexibility, and when to invest. “British manufacturers have a lot to gain from investing
in robots,” explained Ben Swanson, chief commercial officer of Intertronics. “For example, automating repetitive and potentially dangerous tasks means workers can be moved into positions that are creative, fulfilling, and add more value. “We hope the guide will help communicate that these
benefits can be realised quickly, easily, and affordably.” Intertronics supplies robots for dispensing, curing and

ULTRASONIC METAL WELDER LAUNCHED
Now available from Emerson, the Branson GMX-HP ultrasonic metal welder combines greater power and downforce – essential for larger welds required by electric vehicles, batteries and energy storage systems – with a modular equipment design and features that simplify installation and automation. This has a high-capacity 8-kilowatt,
20- kilohertz power supply, with welding power transmitted through a direct-press actuator, equipped with dual linear bearing guides, precision distance sensors and a dynamic pressure trigger that deliver greater part- holding downforce with high stability. Built into the weld power supply, the welder’s

programmable digital controls can manage the welding process in multiple modes: time, energy, peak power and distance. As a result, it is suitable for ultrasonic welding
of larger-diameter conductors, terminations and busbars essential for increased power-carrying capacity, or for bonding the thicker stacks of anode/cathode films used in high power-density batteries or energy storage systems. “Manufacturers are seeking better ways to build more powerful batteries and energy storage systems for everything from electric vehicles to renewable energy systems. The GMX-HP welder lets users scale up designs without sacrificing
