CABLES & CONNECTORS FEATURE
SAVE ASSEMBLY TIME WITH MODULE CONNECT
At a recent press conference in London, igus discussed Module Connect, its popular modular connector block. Module Connect is a plug and play solution that enables multiple different cables and services to be connected together in just one unit
T
raditionally, every power cable, control cable, data, feedback, encoder cable, fibre optic system and pneumatic hose would
need its own connector or fitting. Not only does this mean a huge amount of assembly time, but it can also be a very intricate task. Consolidating multiple cables and services into one space, and connecting these simply, can save up to 80% assembly time, the company claims. Module Connect, igus’s modular connector
block, enables the machine builder and OEM to connect cables and services in just a few steps. This simply clicks together, giving a modern look to any machine as well as providing a true lean improvement. Thanks to the simple modular design, a
unique plug-in/disconnect point can be configured as a single module consisting of several different connector housings. Each housing can be fitted with up to four different connector inserts. The housings can then be joined together, making an almost unlimited number of module variations possible in terms of individual widths and height. Whether you need to connect one cable or nine, the Module Connect will save you installation time, the company states. Of additional benefit, an adapter is available
to connect directly onto any control panel. Furthermore, if there are moving cables or services on a machine then Module Connect can
be integrated directly with the igus energy chain, allowing extremely fast production assembly. Module Connect is the winner of a Red Dot
award. The Red Dot design award is a sought- after mark of quality for a good design.
