SPECIAL FOCUS OEM PRODUCTS INDUSTRIAL GEARS
The MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS offer high power density, quiet operation and reliability. These feature large rolling bearings to ensure extremely high axial and radial load capacities and a long service life. According to the company, the robust
helical and bevel gear units, in their one-piece UNICASE housings, are ideal for heavy duty applications. On the basis of these, the company plans complete drive systems for heavy duty operation with motors and drive electronics, for tasks including conveyor technology, pumps and agitators. Now, the range has been extended
with two new sizes – 5 and 6 – with rated torques of 15kNm and 20kNm. In addition, the company has
supplemented sizes 5 to 11 (rated torques from 15 to 80kNm) of its modular series with extruder flanges.

LIGHT YET STRONG FASTENERS
Originally developed to meet automotive industry demands for a lightweight fastener that delivers superior pull-out performance to pierce nuts, Profil UK’s RND Light range also provides OEMs with new strength and cost reduction benefits. The fasteners can be used in many different material
thicknesses, varying from 0.5mm to 2.5mm. They feature a series of integrated ribs on the riveting part, which allows a smaller fastener to outperform larger alternatives while also providing greater pull-out resistance. RND Light is available in sizes M6 to M12 and can be specified with a wide choice of finishes to suit most applications. Data sheets available
from Profil contain a series of test results concerning the load- carrying capability of the new fastener – users can see at a glance the demonstrated benefits of RND Light; and designers will be able to appreciate the
clear advantages where higher stresses are forecast to be prevalent in a structure, the company claims. Profil UK’s Glenn Williams said: “The new RND Light is an
evolutionary product which was developed from the success of our best-selling standard RND nut. It is proving ideal for design engineers seeking to fasten with increased strength at lower weight. At the same time it offers production bosses another opportunity to reduce assembly costs.” The company also designs and installs turnkey fully-automated
fastener installation systems into production lines, working with customers to deliver bespoke solutions.
Profil UK T: 0121 389 8332 SEALED ELECTRONIC ACTUATORS LAUNCHED
Southco has added to its line of electronic actuators with a sealed version that simplifies the upgrade from mechanical to electronic actuation. Capable of accommodating higher mechanical loads, the AC-EM 10 Electronic Actuator facilitates the electronic actuation of Southco’s R4-10 Rotary Latch series and other latching mechanisms. According to the company, this delivers high
efficiency, accommodating heavier loads with minimal current draw. When connected to an electronic access control device, it can be used to
remotely actuate a mechanical latch to open or unlock a door or panel. With its small profile design and efficient gear motor operation, the AC-EM 10 Electronic Actuator is ideal for concealed applications where physical space constraints are a challenge. An economical solution for remotely actuating rotary locks and latches, the AC-EM 10 is tested to IP55 for water and dust
protection and can be easily retrofitted using a standard cable connection for manual override.
Southco QUICK RELEASE COUPLINGS
Eisele has expanded its INOXLINE of stainless steel fittings to include coded quick-release couplings. With these, the company offers fool-proof stainless steel connection components for compressed air. The connectors consist of
a coupling and a plug nipple (product groups 4031 and 4034). They are manufactured from stainless steel 1.4404, are

equipped with FDA-compliant seals, and prevent the penetration of contamination through the outer contour in connected state. This makes them ideal for use in food environments. The durable connection elements are designed for operating pressures from 0.5 to 10 bar. There are versions available,
with round, triangular, hexagonal

A range of Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) smart batteries, from its partner Inspired Energy, has been launched by Accutronics. The ‘QE’ batteries couple high energy rechargeable lithium-ion technology, state-of-the-art battery management electronics and regulatory safety certification, allowing them to be designed into a wide range of portable electronic applications across multiple markets including medical, test & measurement and security. These see eight existing N-series
battery models ranging from 7.2V to 14.4V upgraded to use the latest 3.4Ah ‘18650’ cells whilst also being certified to IEC 62133:2012 and UL/CSA 62133 standards. These also meet the requirements of the UN 38.3 T1-T8 transportation tests and all have an energy rating of <100Wh. All Inspired Energy smart batteries
or octagonal plug coding. An optional shut-off on both sides offers even more safety.

NOW BE INCLINED New from OKW is a case canting kit which inclines the SMART-TERMINAL extruded enclosures by 12° to create an ergonomic reading and operating angle. This is said to be of benefit for applications such as peripheral and interface equipment, communications, safety engineering, biometrics, medical and laboratory technology, healthcare, measurement and control engineering. The enclosures are available in one
width (170mm) and height (50mm) and three standard lengths: 202, 242 and 282mm. Custom lengths are available on request. These have an aluminium case body with a large recessed area on top for displays, membrane keypads and operating elements. PCBs either slide in to guide rails in the case body or can be fitted to the base.
