The Engineering Design Show (EDS) is described by the organiser as a must-attend event for engineering, electronics and embedded design. EDS connects emerging

technologies with those that can use them in ways to produce products that are better, faster, stronger, cheaper, etc. So, at the event, there will be over 220 suppliers of design services, technologies and components, providing visitors with the opportunity to find the solution to a design dilemma or discover new supply chain partners quickly and efficiently. The exhibitors will display a

wide range of products and be discussing technologies, some of which will be expanded on in the workshop programmes. The

The Future Zone will feature a selection of young and start-up companies delivering exciting products and services for the design engineering community

ELECTRONICS AND EMBEDDED DESIGN

conference schedule, meanwhile, takes a broader look at inspirational projects and trending technologies. There will, in fact, be 24 conference and 40 workshop sessions across the two days. Conference topics will include ‘Electric

vehicle adventures’, ‘Powering the electric revolution’ and ‘The need of design in additive manufacturing’. Workshops will be taking place on

both days within the two theatres on the show floor. The subjects covered will range from software design and rapid prototyping, to material selection and test and measurement. Full details on the conference

speakers, topics and workshop content can all be found on the website. Both the conference and workshop

sessions have been approved to have Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points awarded by the IED, for those in attendance. This means that all the sessions have third party approval to meet content standards to help visitors work towards professional registration. Space in the conference and workshop

theatres is limited so it is recommended that visitors book early to guarantee a place in their preferred sessions.

ATTENDING THE SHOW Of further benefit to visitors, The Future Zone is getting a face lift for 2018. This year it will feature a selection of young and start-up companies delivering exciting products and services for the design engineering community. New for the 2018 show is the EDS TV

channel. This will deliver an up to the minute experience for everyone attending the show by creating a live content channel online and at the venue. It’s the ultimate way of experiencing the show buzz and enhancing engagement. There will be screens located around the show floor and a video wall to ensure visitors can find the information they need. EDS is also co-located with the

Electronics and Embedded Design Shows, reflecting the ever-diversifying role of an engineer. Car parking, entry and attendance

to the conference and workshop programmes is completely free. For the full event details, and to

register for your free visitor badge, please visit the website.
