PRODUCTS SENSORS & SENSING SYSTEMS INDUCTIVE SENSORS FOR A VARIETY OF USES
New from Contrinex and available from PLUS Automation, the Basic 600 range of inductive sensors are suitable for a wide variety of applications – ranging from fairground rides to uses in the automotive industry, conveyor systems, cranes and port facilities, as well as a wide variety of machinery. The rugged C44 inductive sensors, for example, offer
a sensing range of up to 40mm in a small cubic 40x 40mm, IP68/ IP69K-rated polyamide glass-fibre housing. High performance, an extended operating
temperature of -25˚C to +85˚C and a long sensor life, mean they are suitable for outdoor applications. These have a housing design which makes them interchangeable with common mechanical switches and
competitors’ inductive sensors, and feature a rotatable sensing head which can be turned in five directions. Installation is also made easier with tool-free mounting and bright LEDs on four corners to indicate the operating status. An integral S12 connector allows for easy removal and replacement for maintenance, and the IO-Link communication protocol included in the sensor facilitates easy Industry 4/IIoT connection.

MINIATURE SENSOR CONTROLLERS
IO-LINK SENSORS WITH DUAL CHANNEL CAPABILITY
Micro-Epsilon has extended its range of miniature controllers for inductive displacement sensors with two new multi-channel models. Together, the complete range of controllers opens up a wide field of potential applications – from test & development, to machine building and automation tasks. In addition to its induSENSOR
MSC7401 single channel miniature controller, the new induSENSOR MSC7602 and induSENSOR MSC7802 controllers both offer two integrated measurement channels. Furthermore, 62 modules of the MSC7602 can be combined on a DIN rail to create 124 available measurement channels. All three controllers are designed to operate with LVDT and LDR measuring gauges and displacement sensors. With measurement ranges up to 50mm, they are primarily used for measuring displacement, distance, position, gauge and thickness in jigs and fixtures. All controllers are equipped with current and voltage outputs and an RS485 interface. Parameter set up is carried out via a keypad and LED display or by using the Sensor Tool software provided. Depending on the intended application, the controllers are available with either a robust aluminium housing (IP67) or with a plastic housing for DIN rail mounting in control cabinets. The controllers offer a resolution up to 13 bits and a linearity of 0.02% FSO.

28 MAY 2020 | DESIGN SOLUTIONS
Baumer has launched a range of IO-Link sensors with Dual Channel capability. While IO-Link sensors transfer signals via pin 4 and offer the flexibility of being used either for switching or bi-directional IO-Link communication, these Dual Channel sensors enable the transmission of additional signals parallel to the IO-Link channel. This means users can utilise two channels simultaneously – so more information, more feedback and faster. Their pin 2 is assigned with a sensor-specific signal – for
example, like switching, or input or output. This allows for different control concepts to be enabled because, by using the Dual Channel as a leading process surveillance, it frees up the IO-Link channel for other tasks. From position to distance or process sensors, Baumer offers
a wide range of IO-Link sensors with Dual Channel. Baumer

New from ifm, the PM15 range are said to be the first hygienic pressure sensors with a G 1/2 fitting. Thanks to this, the sensors can be installed quickly and easily without the need for expensive adaptors. According to the company, the sensors provide a convenient and
dependable solution to the problem of measuring pressure in small pipes, such as those often found in dosing and filling systems. As they use oil-free ceramic sensing cells, they are ideal for applications in the food, pharmaceutical and other hygiene-sensitive industry sectors. PM15 pressure sensors feature I/O-link connectivity, which
ensures accurate transmission of measurements even in electrically noisy environments and allows the sensors to provide temperature measurements. In many applications, this eliminates the need for a separate temperature sensor, thereby saving money and reducing complexity. The sensors also provide a 4-20 mA analogue output for pressure measurements only. Since they need no elastomer seal and incorporate a pre-mounted PEEK sealing ring, PM15 sensors are
virtually maintenance free. All types have stainless-steel bodies with an IP67 or better ingress protection rating, depending on the method of installation. Not only are the sensors highly resistant to pressure and vacuum shock, and to the effects of abrasive substances, but they are suitable for use with media over a wide temperature range of -25 to +125˚C (<1hr: 150˚C). These features, together with their robust construction, make the new sensors ideally suited to use in even the most demanding environments. These are currently available with ranges from 0 to 2.5 barg through to -1 to 40 barg, and all have a
minimum of 5 x measuring range overload resistance. ifm

MONITORING PARTS
New from SKF is a robust, compact, vibration and temperature sensor for monitoring the condition of rotating parts on heavy industrial machinery. The SKF Enlight Collect IMx-1 is designed principally for use as part of an SKF Rotating Equipment Performance (REP) solution. Powered by long-lasting batteries,
this cost-effective sensor can be deployed in large numbers to automate the gathering of data regarding the health of machinery. When mounted to a bearing housing, collected data can be wirelessly sent to a host computer network from where it can then be forwarded to cloud-based analysis services at SKF REP centres. The system relies on a mesh network,
which allows the sensors to relay data between one another. The mesh network is self-forming, which makes it easier and quicker to deploy than other wireless communications technologies such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, the company explains. The SKF Enlight Collect IMx-1 has
been designed to achieve a tough ingress protection rating of IP69K.
