INTRODUCING AN INDUSTRIAL SMART CAMERA POWERED BY DEEP LEARNING SOFTWARE
With the introduction of the In-Sight D900, Cognex claims to have introduced the world’s first industrial smart camera powered by Deep Learning software. According to the company, a vision system with integrated artificial intelligence is able to combine the judgement of a human inspector with the robustness and consistency of an automated solution for inspection or quality control. The In-Sight D900 is a compact, industry-grade smart camera that can easily be
installed and deployed on the line without the need for a PC. The highly-modular, IP67-rated vision system includes field-changeable lighting, lenses, filters and
covers that can be customised to match the individual application requirements. Of benefit,High Dynamic Range (HDR+) imaging creates evenly exposed images, an LED indicator allows pass/fail monitoring at a distance, and the inspection results can be stored locally on an SD card. The embedded inference engine
was added to specifically run deep learning applications. The smart camera works with a spreadsheet user interface which simplifies application
development and factory integration. Application engineers have access to the full suite of traditional machine vision tools, like PatMax, edge finders, and measurement tools. But, with the In-Sight ViDi, the D900 consists of three deep learning tools ViDi Read, ViDi Check and ViDi Detect. For all three application tools, users can take advantage of the intuitive In-Sight spreadsheet interface,
allowing for a fast setup of Deep Learning applications without programming. ViDi Read enables the user to solve challenging OCR applications in minutes; ViDi Check allows manufacturers to perform fast and accurate assembly verification; and ViDi Detect is designed for analysing complex defect detection tasks.

Eaton has launched the Synflex Optimum family of thermoplastic hydraulic hoses and fittings. The hoses are built to withstand extreme environmental conditions and high abrasion applications. Constructed with a new, innovative, thermoplastic material, they offer the low temperature and flexibility of polyester-lined hoses along with the chemical compatibility of nylon-lined hoses. They have pressure ratings from 70 bar to 350 bar. Complementing the hoses, the Synflex Optimum fittings feature a compact design and smaller profile for easier routing and assembly. The fittings follow a simple one-piece design to reduce matching errors and assembly time while eliminating brazing-failure risks.

I/O MODULES SIMPLIFY SMART MACHINES IN HARSH APPLICATIONS
According to Rockwell Automation, manufacturers can now realise the design and productivity benefits of On- Machine I/O modules on smart machines used in harsh applications. The new Allen-Bradley ArmorBlock I/O
modules can operate in a wide range of temperatures and offer up to IP69K protection in applications like automotive, material handling, packaging and welding. The I/O options can be mounted anywhere on a machine for
shorter cable runs and lower wiring costs. They use nickel-plated zinc die-cast housing, have QuickConnect functionality and offer diagnostics in an EtherNet/IP universal digital I/O block to reduce commissioning and troubleshooting times. Three IO-Link hub blocks help reduce design complexity by
allowing more devices through the IO-Link master; and an M12 L-coded power connector on selected blocks supports higher current, allowing more blocks to be daisy-chained and resulting in lower wiring and installation costs.

www.igus.co.uk NEW AIRCRAFT ENGINE SEAL WITHSTANDS 315˚C TEMPERATURE
New from Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is the Ultra High Temp Seal. This enables aircraft manufacturers to develop engines that run more efficiently and, by achieving lower fuel consumption, more sustainably, the company explains. Aircraft designers aim to run engines at continuously higher temperatures with the
latest options operating at 315°C (600˚F) and beyond. At such extremes, specialised fire seals help ensure the safety of passengers onboard. Used in the fuselage, pylons, thrust reversers and engine applications, they act as a barrier to prevent airflow from one area of a plane to another during normal operating conditions. They also serve as a precaution in incidents that lead to fire, then act to contain the fire to one section of an aircraft, enabling the airplane to land safely within a 15-minute period. Until now, no high temperature fire seals existed that could operate up to 315°C,
the company states. The new Ultra High Temp Seal overcomes the inherent silicone characteristic of relaxation and compression set at elevated temperatures, a major cause of failure in a fire seal’s ability to perform against all requirements. The Ultra High Temp Seal is proven to operate at a temperature range from -40˚C to +315˚C, and has a lifetime of 60,000 flight cycles (take off, flight and landing), dependent on application. The Ultra High Temp seal can also be a drop-in replacement for seals that do not currently meet all fire seal requirements.

The main components of the
gearboxes comprise a shaft generator and flex ring with external teeth, as well as an outer ring fixed to the housing and a rotating output element with internal gear. The wave generator has an elliptical shape, which is transferred to the surrounding flexible ring. The teeth of the flex ring engage in the internal teeth of the outer ring and output element at two points. Since the outer ring has two teeth more than the other components, the flex ring is only moved forward by two teeth per revolution when the wave generator rotates. The load capacity of the shaft gears
was determined in in-house tests. For example, with a gear ratio of 28:1, the gear unit shows a service life of one million cycles at a load of 1.5Nm and a speed of 6rpm.
LIGHTWEIGHT STRAIN WAVE GEARS
iglidur high-performance plastics means that strain wave gearboxes from igus do not have to be lubricated like their metallic counterparts, the company explains. Friction and wear are also reduced by the dry running tribopolymers. With the units, igus has minimised backlash, ensuring precise adjustment with reliability.
