Invertek saves water, energy costs at Malaysia's tallest residential tower block
R
esidents in Malaysia’s newest and tallest residential tower development are enjoying a constant and evenly
pressurised water supply that is more efficient and using less energy than conventional pump systems thanks to Invertek Drives technology. KL Eco City in Kuala Lumpur is a significant integrated
green luxury development encompassing retail, commercial and residential areas on a 25-acre city centre site.
One part of the
development is a 60- storey residential tower containing 720 residential apartments. The developer
wanted to ensure an even water pressure and flow in the building was maintained at all times to all floors, particularly during peak periods, while keeping water usage and energy costs down as part of the development’s green credentials.
“The Optidrives have been installed in the basement to
provide water to the tenth floor, with a further 16 VFDs installed on that floor to maintain it to the higher storeys and roof top areas,” added Khairul.

ROLEC Enclosures Reliable in every turn Interroll presents new tapered elements for curved roller conveyors that offer optimized fixing I
nterroll offers a wide variety of tapered rollers for installing roller conveyor curves. All are based on tapered elements, which are pressed on a cylindrical steel pipe. Installing a roller conveyor curve is all about the details, which can have a great impact on the smooth flow of
materials. The disadvantages of conventional tapered elements become particularly noticeable when higher conveyor speeds are needed or roller conveyor curves that have not been designed and optimally installed are used to convey materials other than those intended. As is the case with cylindrical rollers, the material being conveyed is moved outward from speeds of around 0.8
meters per second, because the centrifugal force becomes greater than the frictional force. The material being conveyed then exerts a counter force on the tapered elements in the direction of the inner radius of the curve (see diagram). If this happens over a long period of time, it increases the risk that the tapered elements on the steel pipe will move. Gaps can appear between the elements and/or contact may be made with drive elements, such as the PolyVee belt, causing damage.
Interroll u
www.interroll.com If the tapered elements were locked
from the outside, interfering edges or points of interference would appear. Points of interference have a tendency to collect parcel string, adhesive tape and other debris on the conveying technology, and they can even damage the packaging and make smooth transport impossible. The varying diameters of the tapered
rollers have two effects: varying roller speeds, which result in the conveyed material being transported through the center of the curve, and friction, which creates a static charge. If it is not possible to correctly earth all of the components; this could lead to quick electrostatic discharge. This charge can be unpleasant for the user and can also represent a risk to delicate conveyed material or the electronics inside the conveying technology. Interroll therefore recommends that roller conveyor curves always be earthed.

RAMO standalone industrial controls and indicators with M12 connectors
applications with pushbuttons, function switches, E-Stops, or signaling devices. The RAMO line of control components and signal lamps provides highly economical and easy-to- install alternatives. These standalone RAFI products need no extra housings or special gaskets, and they are plug- and-play ready, reducing costly wiring time and precluding mistakes. Even untrained personnel can install the devices.
C Due to their single-piece, fully enclosed mono-housings
and connection via M12 circular plug connectors, RAMO pushbuttons, emergency stops, selector switches, key switches, and LED signal lamps can be installed in standard 22.3 mm and 30.3 mm mounting holes without any additional sealing. The RAMO EDGE 90° mounting bracket enables quick mounting of standalone RAMO components.

Thomson high-load ball screws provide maximum load capacity
T
homson Industries, Inc. has introduced a ball screw with more than twice the load capacity of a standard ball screw. The redesigned ball screws
handle more than double the load capacity or provide 10 times the service life compared to standard ball screws at equivalent performance points– along with Thomson’s characteristic German-engineered precision, high reliability and exemplary stiffness. High-load ball screws are ideal for demanding motion control applications such as injection moulding, pressing and large fabrication equipment.
“By increasing ball size and optimising ball track design, we now offer a ball screw that handles more than twice
the capacity of a comparable standard ball screw. And because roller screws have a nut that is close to 50% larger at 150% the price of a comparable high-load ball screw, motion control system designers now have an attractive opportunity to reduce costs while improving performance,” said Markus Brändle, Thomson Product Line Specialist EMEA & Asia for Screws.

New Round Plastic Enclosures For IoT and Industry 4.0 Electronics R
OLEC has launched technoDISC – unique round plastic enclosures for industrial electronics. The housings are sealed to IP 66 (IP 67 optional), making them ideal
for Industry 4.0 and IoT applications both indoors and outside. These ‘go anywhere’ enclosures can be fitted to walls, bulkheads, machines – even
when closed (protecting the seal and electronics during installation). Clip-on POM (polyoxymethylene) trims cover all the fixing and mounting screws.
The enclosures are available in four sizes from 110 x 97 x 55 mm to 190 x 179 x 90
mm. The lid is recessed to accommodate a round membrane keypad or product label. Internal fastening pillars are provided for fitting PCBs and mounting plates. The cases are moulded in UV-stable and flame-retardant Luran ASA (UL 94 V-0).
The standard colour is light grey, similar to RAL 7035. The POM clip-on covers are anthracite grey. ROLEC can supply the enclosures fully customised.
