DRIVES, CONTROLS & MOTORS PRODUCTS COMPACT ELECTRIC MOTOR DESIGNED FOR DEMANDING APPLICATIONS

Based on synchronous reluctance assisted permanent magnet technology, Danfoss Power Solutions’ new EM-PMI375 690-volt electric motor functions as both a motor and a generator. This is designed to work with the Editron EC-C1700B inverter, offering a system solution for 690 V AC and 1,050 V DC applications such as winches, cranes, marine vessels, and mining and material handling machinery. The motor is in the same shape and form as the EM-PMI375 500-V motor, with the same robustness, longevity and standardised options. According to the company, this is

smaller, lighter and more efficient than conventional products on the market, offering up to 96% efficiency throughout its operating range. Developed especially

for demanding applications, the motor features a compact and robust aluminium frame structure with an ingress protection

rating of IP67. The EM-PMI375 690-V motor features a higher maximum operational altitude of 3,000m, made

possible by housing design optimisation. The design of the EM-PMI375 500-V motor has also been optimised, increasing its

IP65-RATED STEPPER MOTORS SUIT INDUSTRIES FROM FOOD & BEVERAGE TO MEDICAL

The AW series ‘Industrial Protective Stepper Motors’ from MOONS’ are aimed at harsh environment motion control applications in food and beverage production, medical industries and arduous industrial environments. Available from Mclennan, these IP65-rated dust- and waterproof motors are available in NEMA frame sizes 17 through 34 and are optionally supplied with brakes and 1000-line optical encoders for position feedback with suitable motion controllers. Offering holding torque from 0.31 to 10.3 Nm, these feature MOONS’ high-fill motor windings

offering smooth performance across a wide speed range with increased torque as well as low inertia rotors for higher acceleration. As standard, the motors are supplied with M8 or M12 aviation plug connectors that offer further reliability and long-term stability. Also available are a wide choice of complementary motion controls and drives, including the

STF series intelligent microstepping drives from Applied Motion Controls Inc., a subsidiary of MOONS’. The panel mounted STF series covers three power versions from 3.0 to 10.0 A/phase with a choice of interface options that cover Industrial Ethernet including EtherCAT as well as CANopen and AMP’s proprietary Serial Command Language (SCL) for network communication over Ethernet (UDP or TCP) and RS-485. Dual-port communications provide daisy-chain connections for multiple drives, enabling multi-axis synchronisation from host-controlled streamed commands. The DC powered drives are also able to take care of local machine control – pre-programmed using AMP’s multi-tasking ‘Q’ language for motion profiles, math functions, conditional processing, data register manipulation and interaction with on-board I/O. Alternatively, standalone motion control is possible for less complex machine applications.

NEW RANGE OF WASHABLE MOTORS SUITS SURGICAL HAND TOOLS AND MEDICAL DEVICES

Washable and sterilisable motors for surgical hand tools and medical devices are now available from maxon. Designed for up to 300 wash cycles and 2,000 autoclave cycles, the first motor in the ECX Speed Washable platform is a 16mmØ brushless DC (BLDC) design. The ECX16 Speed Washable motor features a fully encapsulated winding and over-moulded

electrical connections within the motor body to enable it to withstand the medical washing process without ingress into sensitive electrical connections. The motor can also be used within autoclave sterilisers, with a steam temperature up to 135˚C, without degradation. The motor combines a high torque density and a low torque speed gradient, resulting in a

top-performing brushless motor for a wide variety of surgical applications, while retaining a compact, lightweight footprint, the company explains. The ECX16 Speed Washable motor can be fully customised and complemented by maxon’s full range of gearbox and encoder options.

ENERGY EFFICIENT

MOTOR FOR FAN AND PUMP APPLICATIONS

Designed as a high-efficiency PM reluctance motor, Delta’s MSI series brings compactness, energy savings and integration capabilities to fan and pump applications. With its size reduction of 1-2 frame sizes

compared to traditional induction motors, this saves installation space while meeting IE5 efficiency standards. According to the company, the motors deliver outstanding energy savings, supporting global sustainability initiatives. Delta has prioritised ease of use with the series, ensuring installation dimensions match those of standard IM motors for straightforward replacement. Additionally, motor parameters are preloaded into Delta’s MS300, CP/CFP2000, and VP3000 frequency drives, allowing for effortless system setup. Engineered to deliver consistent and precise performance, the MSI motors operate with reduced noise and minimised vibration levels. “Delta’s MSI motor series represents a leap

forward in energy efficiency, compactness, and system simplicity,” says Martien Heesterbeek, product manager from Industrial Automation Business Group, Delta EMEA. “This new addition to our portfolio empowers businesses to achieve both operational excellence and sustainability goals.”
