CaberFloor P5 for creak-free flooring
C
aberFloor P5, from timber panel specialist West Fraser, trading
as Norbord, is the UK’s most popular moisture resistant flooring panel of its type. It is a high-performance particleboard being widely specified due to its stability, durability and ease of installation for the user. The sturdy, high-density panels come in thicknesses of 18 or 22mm, in both square-edged or tongue and grooved profiles, the latter featuring profiles on all four sides to offer maximum flexibility. The precision- engineered edges ensure smooth and speedy installation while the tight-fitting joints eliminate the annoyance of creaking. Significantly for the installer, choosing T&G CaberFloor P5 removes the need for intermediate noggins,
while ‘secret’ or hidden mailing or screws can be employed within the joints. Alternatively, CaberFix Joint&Joist adhesive can be applied to the edges, further countering the risk of squeaks and creaks that blight traditional floorboards and many ply or particleboard decks. CaberFix D4 is also ideal for bonding flooring boards to both joists and tongue and groove joints and for sealing the board edges. Available in lengths of 2400mm and 600mm wide, the floor panels are both FSC and CE certified and
are ideal for humid environments, in or residential as well as new-build or retrofit applications. Another eco-friendly attribute is that the timber used to make the board is grown in the UK which means less transportation as well as offering a more secure supply in an increasingly disrupted global market. Addressing increasing concerns regarding sustainability, CaberFloor P5 is net carbon negative and locks in the CO2 during its lifetime, while assisting architects and develops to minimise waste and health risks through responsible specification. West Fraser’s CaberFloor P5, presenting a RIBA-approved BIM object, can be specified with absolute confidence in the most demanding situations. https://uk.westfraser.com/ Case Study: Turtle Covers - Wrexham T
rading since 2004, Wrexham based manufacturing company, Turtle Covers were looking to move premises to facilitate their expanding business. Having found the perfect location their new warehouse
needed a state-of-the-art heating system. The newly refurbished building had received significant time and investment from its original state of disrepair and now offers a workshop with 45m x 24m space and a machine shop which is 25m x 14m. The new facility will provide the opportunity to continue to improve their product offering. Marc William the owner of Turtle Covers was impressed that the original Combat heaters had stood the test of time and wanted to stay with a British built product. Marc was also impressed that British built heaters were still obtainable, he also felt that communication between Combat and the Installers, AJS, was excellent and condusive to an effective installation overall. Combat Heating Solutions Ltd were able to provide the ideal replacement
for the new building by installing 2 x ELO55-105 oil fired floor standing cabinet heaters in the workshop and 1 x ELO55-105 floor standing cabinet heater in the machine shop. Both the main workshop and sewing room? were to be heated using preferred choice Kerosene, Replacing the warm air heating system was the obvious choice for the workshop due this being adjacent to the warehouse. Due to the machinists being sat in one position for the majority of the day, in the sewing room, the decision was made to use a warm air heating system so that the air would circulate keeping staff warm and comfortable from head to toe, rather than using a radiant system which wouldn’t have heated the machinists feet whilst they were seated. To ensure there is minimal heat wastage de-stratification fans to push warmth back down to the rear
of the shop being warehouse space. Warm air heating is a modern replacement for traditional water-heating systems within commercial premises and works by forcing warm air around the building. These heaters are most often used in commercial properties and public spaces such as retail outlets and sports halls and are known to improve energy efficiency when compared to other systems. Warm air heating works by pulling cold air from the building and pushing it across a heat exchanger.
The cold air is heated via the fan and re-distributed back into the environment until an ambient temperature is achieved.
The ideal solution Cabinet heaters are a pre-mounted Combat Control and electrical mains supply with a new “plug and play” mains connector which contributes to significantly reducing overall installations time and costs. The distribution heads have been redesigned for an aesthetically sleek appearance, as well as increasing the number of heads to improve the distribution of warm air throughout the building. In addition, de-stratification fans complement your new industrial heating investment. Our energy- saving de-stratification fans improve the efficiency of the heater by keeping valuable warm air down at working level, thus reducing heat loss through the roof structure.

Adveco AD Wall-Mounted Water Heating For Commercial Properties
he AD range of high-efficiency wall-mounted condensing gas-fired water heaters from hot water specialists Adveco is designed to provide a
compact, high capacity and reliable method for delivering instantaneous hot water to a building AD wall-mounted is a range of ‘A’ class energy efficient water heaters available in three rated heat outputs, 27 kW (AD16), 33 kW (AD22) and 61 kW (AD37). When combined with a water cylinder, AD wall-mounted helps meet peak withdrawals without increasing the water heater power. AD wall-mounted can also integrate with solar thermal systems to supply top-up heating when solar radiation during winter months is not enough to guarantee the required temperature for DHW demands. The water heater features a single high-quality patented heat exchanger constructed from a continuous, non-welded run of AISI 316 Ti (Titanium) stabilised stainless steel, providing exceptional construction strength and corrosion resistance. With radial variable circulation, the heat exchanger recovers the latent heat of the flue gas, improving heat transfer for a net efficiency of up to 107% to produce domestic hot water (DHW). The AD wall-mounted water heaters support either natural gas or LPG connections. Bill Sinclair, technical director, Adveco said, “For property renovation where space is at a premium
or when existing gas appliances need modernising, the AD wall-mounted range delivers highly efficient operation in a compact form factor. The titanium-stabilised stainless-steel construction of the AD’s heat exchangers is also the perfect response to counter the concerns of corrosion in soft, or softened water applications. “ With an efficient pre-mix burner and ultra-low NOₓ (16-29 mg/kWh) and CO (11-19 ppm) emissions,
the AD range is an eco-friendly way to serve a domestic hot water (DHW) system with a net efficiency of up to 107%. The unit additionally features a high 1:8 modulation ratio to ensure maximum efficiency even during periods of low demand. By reducing energy consumption, AD can deliver operational savings of up to 30% compared to traditional water heaters for a wide range of commercial applications that demand large production of DHW, such as sports facilities, gyms, B&Bs, cafés, and other light commercial businesses. Also included is an inbuilt controller with LCD display that ensures full temperature control and a maintenance self-check of primary components and functions.
