PRODUCT REVIEW OF THE YEAR
“With this latest addition to our portfolio earlier in 2020, we can fully cover the demands for larger piping, for example risers in tall buildings”, explains Mathias Van den Broeck, Product Manager at SANHA.
SANHA introduce a new dimension of pipes and fittings to its existing stainless steel series For this reason the material is a superior
The demand has been growing in the past years in many parts of the world and are expected to grow even further. Both dimensions are introduced in two types
of material. “In this way, we give our customers the opportunity to choose the most suitable and economically advantageous system, depending on the application.”
Premium stainless steel 1.4404 and 1.4301 All NiroSan® press fittings and pipes are made from the premium stainless steel type 1.4404 / AISI 316L (for pressing components). The material 1.4404 contains at least 2.3 % molybdenum, yet less carbon than the conventional type 1.4401.
Save space and improve handling with new Upton boiler pipework kits
H
amworthy’s popular space saving Upton boiler is now available with improved pipework kits. Taking on board feedback from
customers, Hamworthy has made a number of changes including reducing size and weight, and adding eyelets for easier delivery and handling. The Upton modular vertically stacking boiler is
known for its space saving ability – over 1MW output is possible from a one metre squared boiler footprint. To support installation the Upton can come with pipework kits that have a choice of options such as matched boiler pumps and low loss headers with integrated air and dirt separators. The latest improvements to the pipework kit include: • Reduced size and clearances • Reduced weight • Simpler pump installation – now comes with a Wilo Yonos Maxo pump • New bracket with eyelets for easier transport and handling with a forklift truck Andy Dabin, Product Manager for Hamworthy
Heating, comments: “We have worked closely with staff and customers on the new pipework kit design to improve access and handling, from transportation to siting in the plant room. The new matched pumps are simpler to install and easier to access for setup. We’re known for our space saving modular boilers and the new pipework kits”

material with higher corrosion resistance than standard stainless steels. The NiroTherm fittings and pipes are
produced from the material 1.4301 (AISI 304). The system offers a safe and reliable solution, especially in humid environments, without the risk of external corrosion and thus offers an excellent alternative to carbon steel systems. Thanks to the high corrosion resistance, there are large savings in personnel and material costs for the insulation against humidity.

powered from the input current with 2wire connection and no setpoint adjustment is required ensuring a quick and easy setup. A 12 mm diameter hole provides for easy insertion of the metered cable (multiple times if needed). The 22.5mm x 55.4mm x 47.4 mm housing is manufactured in a Polycarbonate or
Polycarbonate/ABS Alloy and provides protection degree IP20 and an operating temperature range from 20° C to 50° C. The sensor is particularly suited to applications such as HVAC and building automation
where management and corrective actions are required promptly in the case of failure such as water circulation pumps, extractor fans and lights.

Hygiene Certificate. Based on National Occupational Standards for the ventilation
P
industry, working with the Scottish Qualifications Authority to create a customised award which is also credit rated on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), the Certificate guarantees the highest possible standards of competence and compliance. The ventilation hygiene industry is growing quickly, and, rightly
so, there is ever more emphasis on indoor air quality and the cleaning of ventilation systems, a requirement under The Building Regulations, approved document “F” Means of Ventilation. The recent statement issued by the Construction Leadership Council, following the
recommendations from the Grenfell inquiry, will mandate operatives to hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification within their job role. This Certificate will help them bridge that gap, considering there is currently no Level 2 (SCQF Level 5) qualification available for the industry. Toshiba Carrier’s New Manufacturing Subsidiary in Europe Starts Product Shipment
o., in Gniezno, Poland, has commenced operation and is now manufacturing and shipping products. Toshiba Carrier is an air conditioning joint venture in Japan between Toshiba Corporation and Carrier Global Corporation.
T The 17,700sq m factory is situated in
approximately 37,000sq m land and manufactures commercial AC, heating, and air towater equipment for Europe. Toshiba Carrier now has six HVAC equipment manufacturing bases, including this new subsidiary in Poland, two in Japan, and one in Thailand, China, and India. The Europe HVAC segment continues to
grow, driven by solid demands for energy efficient HVAC products to address various environmental goals and regulations in each country. Europe is also witnessing strong sales of heating and hot water supply equipment using heat pumps, or airtowater (ATW) equipment as an alternative for heating and hot water supply equipment using gas and other conventional boilers. The new manufacturing base is expected to allow Toshiba Carrier to reduce product lead
times and bolster its product lineup catering to particular needs in Europe, and as a result boost sales of Toshibabrand products and its business growth outside Japan. “It is a great pleasure to announce the start of shipments from TCAE, thanks to the warm support we have received from the local community”, said Toru Kubo, President & CEO of Toshiba Carrier. “Our aim is to contribute to

Advertorial BSEE Cool Podcast from Condair
umidity control specialist, Condair, has published a
new podcast about how humidifiers can provide economic evaporative cooling in air handling units.
The 10minute
interview with Dave MarshallGeorge, Sales Director at Condair, sees Dave explaining the different strategies available for using humidifiers for cooling in AHUs, as well as the opportunities and limitations each strategy presents. He also outlines a real life case study that illustrates the energy saving benefits of a direct air evaporative cooling design used in a recent telecommunications AHU project. The podcast was produced in
association with BusinessNet Explorer and can be listened to from Condair’s website,
Condair.co.uk, or can be found on Apple iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud and Google Podcasts by searching for “Condair podcast”.
The podcast is Condair’s first published podcast, as Dave MarshallGeorge explains, “Podcasts are a great way for engineers to listen and learn whilst in their car or on their way to work. We wanted to engage with this bitesized learning channel to deliver useful information on a topic we are seeing more and more interest in from consultants and AHU companies. Our short podcast on evaporative cooling is very easy listening and perfect for a 10 minute coffee break escape.”
