Daikin launches indoor air quality webinar With the help of these technologies, building
carbon heating manufacturer, Daikin is set to host a webinar on Tuesday 9th November to discuss the issue in more detail. The COVID19 pandemic has brought the issue of indoor air quality into sharp focus. This renewed attention is long overdue, especially with the average person spending 90% of their time indoors. Acknowledging this growing concern, Daikin will host an informative webinar on Tuesday 9th November to explain how ventilation systems can help to manage this risk. As a company, Daikin possesses a vast portfolio of ventilation solutions suitable for all spaces.
owners can mitigate the risks posed by poor indoor air quality. This diverse product lineup will be covered in the webinar, alongside guidance on how these solutions should be specified and installed. The webinar is suitable for most professionals
across the construction sector. The meeting will be hosted entirely online and is totally free for those who want to attend it. To find out more information about what will be covered in the program, and to sign up to the webinar visit the website.

Breathing Buildings Offers CIBSEApproved CPD on School Ventilation
requirements of BB101: Guidelines on ventilation, thermal comfort and indoor air quality in schools and TM52: The Limits of Thermal Comfort; Avoiding Overheating. This essential course is particularly timely with the current focus on schools and ventilation in order to improve indoor air quality (IAQ) and help mitigate COVID19 transmission, while helping ensure thermal comfort. The ‘Meeting the Requirements of BB101 and TM52 CPD’ examines the current ventilation and thermal requirements within BB101 and TM52 and provides an introduction to Natural and Hybrid ventilation strategies, how mixing ventilation works and how these ventilation solutions can help meet the demands of the regulations. The course also covers requirements of design guidance, discussing overheating and IAQ criteria and what is needed in order to achieve compliance, as well as what it means for the ventilation systems being installed. The CPD includes the following learning objectives: • Challenges with BB101 V4 • What is winter mixing and summer night cooling? • Current building requirements for BB101 • What is summertime overheating? • BB101 ventilation systems • Acoustics and draught calculations • What are the different ventilation strategies? • COVID19 and ventilation systems.

LG launches new wall mounted hydro kit for domestic hot water
L
eading renewables manufacturer LG has launched its new wall mounted hydro kit for the production of hot water in domestic and small commercial/retail/office type settings. The hydro kit is an indoor unit that can connect to LG Multi V
VRF Systems – Multi V 5 and Multi V M, Multi VS and the R32 Multi VS Compact units. The unit utilises wasted heat from cooling and transfers this to the hydro kit for the production of hot water. It comes with a water flow temperature for heating of a maximum of 50°C and cooling temperature of a minimum of 5°C. The new wall mounted Hydro Kit unit comes in a range of sizes
to meet any requirement – from 5.5kW up to 9.0kW and is compatible with low GWP R32 refrigerant, incorporating integrated water side components to reduce installation time and cost, and offers significant space saving benefits and easy maintenance. The new hydro kit can be used with the heating priority function that provides initial
cost saving and user convenience. Also, domestic hot water is always available, even during the cooling season without manual mode changes.
www.lg.com/uk/business/inquiretobuy Making AHU documentation more sustainable and accessible S
wegon are working to make their business more sustainable. One small they are taking is to reduce the use of printed paper sent out with products. As of October 1st, operations & maintenance instructions for
Swegon’s GOLD, Silver C & Compact range of air handling units will be offered electronically instead of printed. The operations and maintenance instructions for Swegon’s air handling units will be digitally available on the Swegon website, and accessed by scanning a QR code on the unit. With instant access to all documentation related each product,
customers will always be able to access the most up to date versions, as well as being able to access the AHU instructions in their chosen language. Swegon are reducing the use of printed paper as part of their
sustainability efforts. By doing this, the company can help save an equivalent of around 11 tonnes of CO2 per year. To put this into perspective, 1,7 million A4 sheets is equivalent to
~11 tonnes of CO2 and requires 3,100 tonnes of wood as resource (where 750,000 L water could be saved in paper production) • The average UK citizen caused 5.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year 2016
• 11 tonnes of CO2 equivalent is the same as 2.4 petrol passenger cars in the UK driving for 1 year • 1.7 million A4 sheets equal 70 trees Safety and installation instructions will still be sent out with each AHU (GOLD, Silver C & Compact), however operations & maintenance instructions can be digitally accessed via the Swegon website, or by scanning the QR code on each unit. By scanning the QR code with a mobile device, customers will be able to access instructions in their chosen language.

Drinking water installations in hospitals – SANHA fulfills high hygiene requirements
igh demands are placed on the technical equipment of a hospital,
especially regarding to hygiene. The installations used for drinking water in particular must therefore be ideal. With our piping systems, this can be achieved easily. In addition to the temperature, the contamination of the
components before and during assembly and the type of installation, the materials used also have an effect on the water quality. For this reason, for example, the Drinking Water Directive limits the entry of lead to 0.01 mg/l. In demanding projects such as hospitals, planners, installers and operators have the responsibility to minimise the health risk for patients and staff. This can be achieved in particular through forwardlooking construction planning and product selection. Leadfree and clean installation We offer system pipes and fittings made of copper, stainless steel
and silicon bronze, which enable an absolutely leadfree installation. The NiroSan stainless steel pipes are made of the carbonreduced material 1.4404 with a particularly high molybdenum content of at least 2.3 %, which gives high corrosion protection. We are currently the only manufacturer to produce all system press,
transition and threaded fittings from leadfree CuSi silicon bronze, a particularly hard and dense copper alloy. Fittings made of silicon bronze are very suitable for drinking water installations due to their hygienic and corrosionproof properties.

An open and shut case for Luceco lighting the new
Prosecution Building in Dubai!
uceco and energy partner Multimission Technical Services has recently supplied LED luminaires for the new Dubai Prosecution Building, part of the Dubai Courts. The building was designed in a contemporary and distinctive architectural style overlooking the banks of the Dubai Creek and reflects the development taking place in the area. Function areas and customer experience centre were lit with
LuxFrame luminaires providing a significant décor element as well as illumination to the architectural interior spaces. LuxFrame is installed around the ceiling tile maintaining the integrity of the ceiling or can be suspended as a stylish pendant. VIP offices and executive corridors were illuminated with linear
arrays of Contour luminaires, creating seamless runs of cost effective LED lighting with the added benefit of 100,000 hours maintenance free operational life. Platinum and Palladium downlights were used for circulation spaces and IP65 rated robust Climate weatherproof fittings were used in service rooms & car parking areas with Atlas bulkheads used for the amenity applications. Whilst meeting energy efficiency and cost effectiveness criteria, the
luminaires will also be part of the contemporary and architectural interior décor of the building, an open and shut case in favour of well engineered luminaires enhancing the lit environment at the new Prosecution Building in Dubai!

to work with them to develop a bespoke heating system for their luxury garden pods
become frustrated with their incumbent supplier of offthe shelf heating systems for their pods. Wayne Farmer, the director, approached Smith’s to enquire whether they would develop a more bespoke system which met their needs both for heating the pods and that could be incorporated more easily into their manufacturing process. Working with Simon Butcher, Senior Technical Services Manager at
O
Smith’s, Mr Farmer and his team now have a much better solution that has resulted in more efficient heating for the pods with an RF room thermostat with both time and temperature controls. The manufacturing process is also much improved with the Smith’s heaters being supplied with ‘plug and play’ electrical connections as standard. Further information about this ongoing project please have a look at
