Ovia upgrades its Utility range of LED Luminaires
O
via continues to invest in its lighting ranges to bring new and improved products to the market to meet the needs of its customers. The focus of the
company’s latest product development is the utility range of linear, non-corrosive LED luminaires, with the launch of a new and improved Inceptor U-Lite range now offering enhanced performance and easier installation. The upgraded Inceptor U-Lite boasts increased efficacy - now reaching an impressive 160Lm/W,
up from the previous 120Lm/W. Ovia has also introduced modular design options to the range with microwave sensors and emergency packs available. The modular design enhances product sustainability, allowing the microwave sensors and optional
self-test emergency packs to be retrofitted to make the luminaire more energy efficient. The packs can be easily installed without the need for tools. Clear markings on the gear tray guide installation, with easy wiring via colour-coded connectors. The new design offers versatile mounting options. The fitting is Besa mountable and features two
different sized suspension brackets that seamlessly accommodate a Besa mount setup. Ovia’s exclusive Besa mounting system, coupled with a unique suspension bracket, ensures effortless installation, with just one Besa mount clip required. The larger suspension bracket provides enhanced ease and flexibility, making the set up process simpler as well as more adaptable. With a Molex connector, movable terminal connectors and a detachable gear tray, installation of Ovia’s upgraded luminaires has never been so easy. Available in three sizes – 4ft, 5ft and 6ft, as well as a high-powered 5ft option - the Inceptor U-Lite is
power switchable - with four wattages available for selection. The luminaire also offers switchable CCT between 4000K, 5000K and 6500K.
Other features include: • •
Fast fit terminal block for effortless and efficient wiring. Suspension wire which allows the diffuser to hang securely once the base is installed.
• Anti-tamper clips which create a secure, tight seal between the diffuser and the base, and can be fastened with a screw for added security.
• An M20 gland fitting installed at each end and on top of the base.
At the same time as the upgrade to the Inceptor U-Lite, Ovia has introduced the new U-Lux luminaire which will replace the standard U-Lite and offer all the same features and benefits of the premium Inceptor U-Lite version, without the switchable CCT function. Perfect for industrial environments like warehouses, garages, and car parks, both the Inceptor U-Lite
and U-Lux luminaires are IK08 and IP65 rated and come with a five-year warranty. A brochure featuring the new Inceptor U-Lite is available to download from the Ovia website -

MouldSense solution to help landlords and tenants breathe easy
Vericon Systems launches new V
ericon Systems, a leading manufacturer of remote technologies to manage and control essential building services, has launched MouldSense, a
new plug and play solution to help landlords monitor, measure and manage damp and mould within their properties and ensure compliance with Awaab’s Law. MouldSense, part of Vericon’s proven HomeHub series, includes battery-operated temperature and humidity sensors that can be placed around a property to identify and alert landlords of potential issues. The sensors assess the risk in each room, every five minutes, providing accurate information about what is really going on inside the property. It enables landlords to decide if fixing a fault is necessary or whether educating tenants about the health risks associated with damp and mould will prevent an issue occurring before it has time to escalate. With in-depth reporting and analysis, MouldSense also provides landlords with a complete and detailed audit trail to further ensure compliance. It also comprises Vericon’s Boiler Control and Monitoring unit which provides real-time information about a boiler’s ‘health’. The unit can detect potential faults, from leaks to ignition failures, in advance, and send the data to the landlord in real-time to inform preventative maintenance. Vericon’s MouldSense also includes an AutoFill device which reduces maintenance call outs by
detecting the difference between a burst pipe and ‘normal’ pressure fluctuations, and automatically topping up the system with water to keep the boiler working efficiently and cost effectively at all times. Being plug and play, Vericon’s MouldSense is quick and easy to install. “Plug and play technology
delivers real efficiencies for landlords. It means they can avoid costly call outs for an electrician or engineer and instead, could be just 15 minutes away from total peace of mind for them and their tenants,” says Bernard Cook, Managing Director of Vericon Systems. “More than this, our scalable solution addresses 22 of the 29 housing hazards as defined in HHSRS,
meeting not only landlords' immediate needs for compliance, but also many of their future obligations to deliver long-term value.” To download Vericon’s free guide on how its MouldSense solution can help ensure compliance with Awaab’s Law compliance, go to our website.

ater quality specialists Spirotech are supplying a large number of Spirovent Superior S400 fully
automatic vacuum degassers for a closed heating and chilled water system within the iconic tapered Leadenhall building in London. The new vacuum degassers are being
installed within the 48-storey high structure known as the Cheesegrater, as part of an ongoing refurbishment programme to replace an earlier degasser model also manufactured by Spirotech – the S4R. The work is being carried out by Spirotech’s trusted Contract Service Partner, Engineering Support Solutions (UK) Ltd (ESS (UK) Ltd) based on the Slough Trading Estate in Berkshire. Vacuum degassing uses the principles of
Henry's law - the effect of pressure and temperature on the absorbent capacity of water in degassing situations, to keep the entire system fluid at its lowest possible dissolved gas content. Degassing is carried out each day at a set time decided by the user and has two phases – the rinsing phase and the vacuum phase. Lewis Hill, Managing Director of ESS (UK) Ltd, commented: “We commissioned the original S4R units
on behalf of Spirotech in 2015. The client is now undertaking an upgrade because the life cycle of the products will be coming to an end in a few years’ time. Therefore, we had the time to assess the site’s needs and evaluate which units were going to be the best to replace the existing ones. By taking into account any changes in the requirements of the site, we were able to provide not only an upgrade in technology but also ensure we met the client’s evolving needs since 2015. “Two MV04B50 degasser refill units will be fitted on each floor – one to the LTHW heating system, the other to the chilled water system. We started the installation towards the end of 2023 and the upgrade comprises 96 degassers and is being undertaken in phases.” “The installation isn’t as straightforward as we would like due to the new MV04B50 units being
taller than the previous S4R model. Therefore, various modifications are required to create a larger space to accommodate them. We were able to incorporate this additional parameter with ease as pre-contract visits were undertaken to ensure all requirements would be met. Spirotech provided remote support on this project - even at the site visit stage - ensuring an ease to the project from purchase through to commission. “The new MV04B50 degassers are more efficient, quieter and incorporate a far more user-friendly
interface compared to the model they are replacing. They are designed for use with heating and cooling installations and are filled with heat transfer fluids which contain dissolved and free gases. It removes those gases that infiltrate the system during installation and remove any when the system is up and running.” Operating at a system pressure
of between 1-4 bar, this model has a processing capacity of 500 l/h. System temperature can run from 0-90oC, with an ambient temperature of 0-40oC.
