BSEE Baxi Supports Kickstart Scheme
n a bid to help young people into the heating industry and improve the services for installers and their customers, Baxi has announced it will be taking part in the Government’s Kickstart scheme. Baxi’s involvement in the initiative comes at a time of investment into its award-winning customer contact centre. Successful Kickstart applicants will receive bespoke customer service training and coaching and will then work as part of the customer service team, providing excellent customer service for installers, and enhanced aftercare for their customers.

Following the initial six-month placement, the young people will be able to continue working at
Baxi if they wish. With lots of different job prospects to choose from, including marketing, IT, sales, engineering and R&D, a plethora of career opportunities are available.
Louise Murton, customer service director, said: “Investing in our teams is what helps to make Baxi the brand customers ask for and the trade wants to install. Baxi is committed to supporting young people into employment and through this scheme we hope to discover and nurture new talent. This will not only help to address the skills gap and increase workforce diversity but ensure that our valued installers have even more support from our Baxi customer service teams when they need us.”

Hannah Vickers to leave ACE for role with Mace
The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) has announced that its current chief executive Hannah Vickers is stepping down to join major consultancy and construction firm, Mace. The business association for those who design, deliver and manage our infrastructure and built environment has already started the process of finding a replacement.
She will join Mace in July as chief of staff where she will directly support CEO Mark Reynolds, and the company’s executive board, embedding its new 2026 business strategy.
Commenting on her departure, current ACE chair, and managing director - infrastructure & buildings at Stantec UK, Paul Reilly said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Hannah for her huge contribution and wish her all the best in her new role. Successfully navigating the organisation through the pandemic, she leaves ACE in an excellent position – financially robust, with a strong pipeline of impactful projects and an influential voice with policymakers.

CIBSE has announced the appointment of Ruth Carter as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Stephen Matthews who retires after 15 years in the role.
With a background in developing international organisations, Carter has worked in and around the construction industry for much of her career. She sees many synergies between her experience of multi-channel information provision and the opportunities open to CIBSE in the immediate future.
“CIBSE is right at the forefront of so many issues that are finally being recognised as the most significant for every one of us” she says. “Whether it’s climate change, sustainability, technology or designing and constructing the built environment of the future, CIBSE engineers will continue to play a pivotal role. There could not be a more exciting time to be joining this august and respected institution.”
Carter has a strong track record of creating successful collegiate communities within publishing and exhibitions and points to the opportunity for supporting a strong sense of identity across a diverse international CIBSE membership. She has had particular success in employing modern technical solutions to the challenges around communication and inclusivity inherent in such a community.
Ramboll appoints new members to the Group Executive Board
The global engineering, architecture and consultancy company has appointed three new members to the Group Executive Board this April. Peter Heymann Andersen is appointed Group Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for the global Market business units Buildings, Transport, Architecture, Landscape & Urbanism and Water. Michael Thorndahl Simmelsgaard is appointed Group Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for the global Market business units Energy, Environment & Health and Management Consulting.
Mathew Riley is appointed Group Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for the Geographical business units Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, UK and Germany.
All three are internal candidates and will be sharing responsibility for driving Ramboll’s operations in the global and local dimensions reflecting Ramboll’s operating model.
With the change the Group Executive board now consist of the following roles:
