WASTE MANAGEMENT & WATER TREATMENT
IW Capital leads £4.7 million investment round in LAT Water to accelerate growth in developing sustainable wastewater treatment solutions globally

IW Capital is proud to announce the completion of a successful investment in LAT Water Ltd. Led by IW Capital, £4.7 million has been raised in the round to accelerate LAT Water’s commercial growth in developing sustainable wastewater treatment solutions globally, following early success both in the UK and China.
ater originates from the environment, and all water used by humans eventually returns there, but it doesn’t return in its natural state – it returns with impurities added
to it. Substances of wastewater include waste, oils, chemicals and more and can include water from homes, businesses and industries too.
It is crucial that water gets cleaned before releasing it back to the environment – treating wastewater helps to reduce pollutants in wastewater to a level that nature can handle. Keeping water clean should be a priority as we care for the environment, and of course, for health purposes too.
As water is a key tool for various reasons, whether it be production and socio-economic activity, infrastructure requirements or drinking and sanitation, it is safe to say water is a key driver in our society, and we must recognise, measure and express water’s worth by incorporating it into decision-making to achieving sustainable and equitable water resources management.
Wastewater is key to solving the global water crisis: United Nations
The United Nations World Water Development 2021 ‘Valuing Water’ report highlights the importance of valuing water through various approaches and methodologies, while current status of water resources highlights the importance for enhanced water resources management in order to achieve sustainable and equitable water resources management. LAT Water aims to develop and implement new approaches to renewable energy powered desalination, water and waste water treatment. With the LAT technology, fresh water is extracted at a lower cost than any existing technologies, in a sustainable manner with a low carbon footprint.
The LAT™ technology process separates and recovers clean water from highly contaminated industrial water utilising waste heat
The LAT™ technology process separates and recovers clean water from highly contaminated industrial water utilising waste heat. The system is highly scalable and can be installed for treating flows from one to over 1,000 cubic metres per day of effluent, delivering up to 60% cost savings for the operator and contributing to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
The process is capable of treating wastewater for a wide range of applications, including, notably, the treatment of wastewater from landfill sites. This helps both with the odour associated with such sites as well as reducing the costly and environmentally damaging need to transport the waste off-site for treatment.
The investment follows a successful start to 2021 for the company. Despite difficulties faced by COVID-19, LAT Water has kept on track with key targets both across the globe and closer to home. The maiden installation located at the Daxin landfill, in Shenyang, China, has now been successfully operating for over two years. This has been followed by the construction of a show case facility at a Viridor site in the west of England.
