Armstrong Fluid technology launches design envelope EVERCOOL™ a new cooling solution for mission critical projects

A

rmstrong Fluid Technology has announced the launch of Design Envelope EVERCOOL™, a new solution for rapid deployment in mission critical cooling applications.

Design Envelope EVERCOOL is an automation platform for mission critical cooling systems. The EVERCOOL platform offers preengineered, featurerich options that can be configured on site. The platform meets the stringent requirements of the Uptime Institute for Tier III data centers, while avoiding the traditional requirements of extensive site programming and customization. EVERCOOL reduces site commissioning time by up to 30% and reduces overall energy consumption, coordinating cooling system operation to reduce energy costs by as much as 40%.

EVERCOOL uses an innovative design with internal redundancy and a hotstandby controller for continuous uptime. This design approach ensures seamless transfer (in less than 200 milliseconds) between controllers in the event of a failure.

Peter Thomsen, Director, Building Systems Solutions with

Armstrong comments, "EVERCOOL is a great approach to accelerate project deployment and reduce project costs on any mission critical project, including Tier 1, 2, 3 or 4 data centers.”

the forefront of the battle against Covid 19 and being deployed in airports, hospitals, personal hygiene systems and now air handling units. LightGuardTM uses UVC radiation at a wavelength of 264nm, invisible to the human eye but extremely effective at disinfection. UVC can inactivate microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi by preventing them from infecting and replicating. The UVC lamps used by LightGuardTM

are installed downstream of the cooling coil and use a photon concentrator which

HVAC disinfectant solutions which rely on UV light are proven to promote the following positive effects: • Reduced microbial contamination within HVAC systems by more than 90%

arkell, the UK’s leading air handling specialists, have announced the launch of LightGuardTM, a UV coil

focuses up to 95% of the UV energy produced onto the coil. Installation is simple and the lamps are low energy, providing an allround cost effective solution. The lamps require replacing only once a year, slashing maintenance costs due to removing or greatly reducing the need for normal coil cleaning regimes. Adam Childs, Managing Director at

Barkell, states: “As business owners consider a return

to work, many are facing a ‘new normal’, where cleanliness, hygiene and indoor air quality are critical to minimise risk to staff and customers. A LightGuard UVC coil cleaning system can be fitted in just about any new or existing air handling unit and will effectively disinfect the surfaces of the equipment, removing harmful organisms before they potentially enter the airstream”.

Space Ready Optics for Satellite Data Relay Systems

performance optical systems for satellite data relay systems Mark Pontin, Managing

R

Director of Resolve Optics Ltd. commented "Because of the growing international demand for data, telecom and satellite communication, operators are faced with needing to deliver massive data quantities without significant delays. Consequently, demand for new and improved satellite data relay systems incorporating our high performance spaceready optics is expanding rapidly. He added “The Earth orbit that satellite data relay systems operate in

determines how much radiation the optics they incorporate will be required to withstand. All optical elements within our radiation tolerant optical designs are made using cerium oxide doped glass or synthetic silica enabling them to withstand radiation doses of up to 100,000,000 rads and temperatures up to 55°C without discoloration or degradation of performance. Our radiation resistant optics provide high image resolution and minimum geometric distortion from 400 to 750nm”. Optical systems used in satellite data relay systems also have to meet additional basic requirements to survive the harsh environment of space. These optics must be constructed of specific materials that will not outgas when exposed to the vacuum of space and all significant air spaces should be vented to avoid pressure on and distortion of the optical elements.

Biofilm, when allowed to build up, acts as an insulator, reducing the efficiency of heat exchange. It fills interstitial spaces, increasing pressure drop across an HVAC coil and it produces sulphitereducing bacteria, causing corrosion to an HVAC system. are extremely popular and in addition to the efficiency benefits, this type of installation provides builtin redundancy in the event of component failure. Lochinvar provide two wallhung boiler ranges as follows:

e are approaching the time of year when boiler plant upgrades are carried out in wide range of

CPM Available in 6 models, the CPM range provides outputs from 53 to 160kW based upon 80º/60ºC system design; a compact 4boiler installation can therefore provide up to 640kW output. Key features of the CPM range include: • Stainless steel heat exchanger • Burner modulation with 4:1 turndown • Integral Arated pump • Integral controls including cascade management

For further information on the CPM wall hung boiler range, see here https://lochinvar.ltd.uk/cpmboilers/

EFB

EFB outputs range from 79 to 140kW based upon 80º/60ºC system design; NOx emissions are below 24mg/kWh on all 4 models, making EFB one of the few boilers on the market which qualify for BREEAM credits. Other key features include: • Stainless steel heat exchanger • Burner modulation with 5:1 turndown • Can operate at Delta T (ΔT) of up to 30ºC • Integral controls including cascade management Further details are available here https://lochinvar.ltd.uk/efb/

Boiler ancillary equipment In addition to frames and pipework header assemblies, Lochinvar can also provide a range of boiler ancillaries, including matched boiler pumps, low loss headers, heating plate separators, boiler expansion kits pressurisation units and a range of costeffective flue options

Availability

CPM and EFB and ancillary items are usually ex stock Banbury, Oxon and can be delivered to most areas of the UK within two working days
