Worcester’s installer-focused app won gold for ‘Best digital employee communication’ having established itself as an invaluable on- the-job tool for installers, and also picked up the gold award for ‘best use of digital’ from the engineering and manufacturing sector. The awards’ judges were full of praise for the myWorcester app, describing it as “the perfect example of user-friendly, time-saving and innovative design, benefitting both installers and the business bottom line”. The myWorcester app was launched back in 2017 and is now being used on a daily basis by thousands of installers nationwide, all of whom rely on its seamless assistance with boiler guarantee registration, management of customer appointments, and access to invaluable technical literature. The result is instant access to up to date information and significantly less time spent on unnecessary admin.

Martyn Bridges, Worcester Bosch’s director of technical communication and product management, commented: “To win two highly-esteemed awards in the digital

communications sphere further highlights just how committed we are to making the working lives of installers as straightforward as possible. Through our myWorcester app, we have done just that by giving installers access to countless useful tools and resources they can access using their smartphone.

“Not only will we be looking to further enhance the app over time, but we’re also exploring other ways we can use digital channels to enhance the way installers interact with our products and services in the future.”

The award-winning myWorcester app is free to download via the Apple App Store and Google Play.

National Audit Office releases smart meter rollout report

he National Audit Office has released its smart meter roll out report which states that the programme is late, expensive and a large proportion of SMETS1 meters currently lose smart functionality after a switch. NAO has confirmed the fact that serious issues within the industry need to be addressed for smart meters to be successfully implemented and provide tangable savings for consumers. Jane Lucy, CEO and founder of The Labrador, is of the opinion: “It is apparent that the smart meter roll out has proved an extremely expensive task for the government, with the overall bill now topping £11 billion. This is fundamentally due to costly decisions about the rollout being made without due consideration about it's practicality - e.g. SMETS1 end date being so tight when SMETS2 is not yet robust at scale. This has been highlighted within the report and The Labrador is in agreement that the functionality of the roll out is dependent on technology that is not yet fully developed.

Darrel Birkett, CDL’s founder and managing director, said: “It has been an outstanding year and we have continued to increase sales, driven mainly by the new technology roll-outs by Toshiba and the recent addition of CIAT to our range.

“The move to new larger premises will give us the space to grow for the future, and allow us to continue to develop our service to our expanding customer base that is one of the key elements of our success.” On recent market

Geographically, sales growth has come from across the UK, with London and the south of England performing particularly strongly. To help support this going forward, the company is planning new hubs for training and stockholding to ensure service levels are

maintained as the business expands.

On the training front, CDL continues to expand its popular online video training academy on YouTube, with some

modules being viewed more than 15,000 times. Further courses will be added in future to address specific training needs, including end user requirements.
