CONTENTS

tend to view the beginning of a new year as the chance to push the reset button and make a fresh start. A blank page, if you will, on which the next 12 months will be written, literally so as the editor of BSEE. So I’m really excited to welcome you to this January issue, the first that I’ve been responsible for from start to finish since taking over the editor’s chair. And I’m very pleased to say that it’s packed with plenty of the quality content you’ve come to expect from the magazine, including the latest news, key appointments, industry comment, technical articles, case studies and new product releases.

We’ve tackled some key topics this month, such as cooling system

An exciting year ahead… I

maintenance, hot water and boilers, energy optimisation, heating and ventilation, water hygiene, cable management and renewables, to name just a few. These are all areas that make a difference to the smooth and efficient running of buildings, and which are relevant to facilities managers, building services professionals and engineers in their day-to-day roles.

In order to bring many of these issues to life and cover them in more detail, we have some exciting events planned for BSEE readers. The first is our second Building Services Forum that will take place at the Building Centre in London in June and have a focus on sustainability. The comprehensive seminar programme will offer an in- depth view on laying a foundation

and building a framework to provide a sustainable future for occupied space. Subjects covered will include CHP technology, renewable energy, building performance optimisation, lighting and building automation, plus many others. We’ll be publishing more details about the event in the next few issues.

We are also well into the planning stage of our new Building Services Live exhibition that will take place at Excel next January. This will also see the new Building Services Awards 2020 being held alongside it. More information

about both of these events will be published in the magazine soon. No doubt there will be some challenges ahead, but as you can see, there is also plenty to look forward this year and beyond as we continue to cover, serve and support this important and growing industry. Happy New Year!
