Contour from Luceco is a linear luminaire providing individual or continuous runs of illumination suitable for many commercial environments. The LED lighting system consists of connectable modules offered in 600 mm, 1200 mm, 1500 mm and 1800 mm lengths that can be surface mounted, suspended or recessed. Seamless runs of energy saving cost effective LED lighting can be created with interconnecting power and module connectors.

The Tech Bar required a more modernistic approach with Contour providing an architectural element to the design of the area with the body of the luminaire displayed in Graphite Grey. Manufactured as a premium aluminium extrusion with high quality polycarbonate opal diffuser, micro prism or asymmetric optic distribution options, Contour has a

full range of illuminated interconnecting modules as well as an integrated driver with quick electrical connectors for ease of installation. Interconnecting modules include corner connectors, T junction and cross pieces.

To create an enhanced lit environment with the use of the area in mind, each installation required a different colour temperature output. The Tech Bar required a cool clean light at 4000K and the more relaxing space in the Break Out Kitchens, a warmer white at 3000K. Contour has a 5-year extended warranty available and offers over 100,000 hours operational life, with no maintenance over the lifetime of the luminaire, an important factor when considering applications such as commercial environments where 24 hours a day operation may be required.

‘Extreme’ hot water delivered by mikrofill at Wexham Park Hospital

Early in 2018, Amersco Inc began a £7.5 million energy infrastructure and maintenance contract at Wexham Park Hospital

As well as replacing the existing steam boilers with 1.5 MW of Combined Heat and Power plant the hospitals decentralised domestic hot water system included the installation of 38No Extreme loading cylinders. A combination of 200, 300 and 500 litre cylinders each with a maximum instantaneous performance in excess of 2000 l/hr at 60°C serves Wexham Parks diverse demands. The Wras approved Extreme loading cylinder not only maximises LPHW efficiency by operating at a t of 30°C it’s structure also ensures 100% of its stored volume reaches its design temperature.

Supported by a 15-year operations and maintenance

contract, Ameresco will deliver the hospital huge annual energy savings over the contract term. In addition, the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 1,621 tonnes of CO2 per annum. Given the sensitive nature of the project it was imperative that the scheme was specifically designed to make sure there were no disruptions in the day-to-day delivery of patient services during the implementation process. The aesthetic challenge of the reception grilles was just one of many challenges Gilberts’ faced in developing the tools to meet the ventilation strategy designed by Kimpton Ltd. Performance challenges included finding aesthetic solutions that addressed airflow rates ranging from as little as 15l/s in the 14 treatment rooms through to 1000l/s in the swimming pool/ hydrotherapy suite. “The marble wall is a focal point of the main reception, designed to make an impact and set the scene for the high quality throughout the Spa,” explained Gilberts’ sales director Ian Rogers. “Therefore, any ventilation inlets and extracts in the vicinity had to continue that aspirational, dramatic ambience. A linear bar grille was the obvious choice to ventilate the area, so we designed a bespoke version.

“The blades within the grille appear to be floating in the air within the marble wall. We gave those grilles the Gilberts version of a Spa treatment!” Added Chris Tolley, Kimpton’s senior projects

Grade I listed and a scheduled ancient monument, God’s House Tower stands at the south- east corner of the town walls and has permitted access to the town from the Platform and Town Quay for centuries. Owned by Southampton City Council, it has previously served as the town jail and housed the Museum of Archaeology. Building work on the tower began in the 13th century and wasn’t finally completed until early in the 15th century.
