oolstop has recently supplied a complete ventilation and air conditioning for the prestigious new Atrium Health Club in

360 cassettes in black. Suspended from the open ceiling these 360 cassettes complimented the gym with their innovative and creative design. Once the air conditioning was completed Total Climate installed a Samsung 1000m3/h MVHR air to air heat exchanger with full ductwork to the new gym. Total time from design to install and handover to the client was three weeks. The black Samsung 360 cassettes and exposed

spiral ductwork was chosen to fit the look of the contemporary fitness space. The client was very impressed with the look and finish of the Samsung equipment and amazed at how fresh the space now is with the volume of fresh air.

Hybrid Low Carbon Hot Water Systems For Commercial Buildings

Viega Profipress offers reliable pipework

installation for historic Manchester redevelopment

V

iega’s Profipress press connection system has been utilised for the domestic hot and cold water systems for Urban Splash’s landmark

Avro development in Manchester. Designed specifically for copper pipe, Profipress was selected to provide a safer, quicker and more reliable method of pipe connection. Located canalside in Manchester’s Northern

Quarter, Avro is a luxury 31 apartment development that consists of one to four bedroom loftstyle homes. Avro is a careful redevelopment of Brownsfield Mill, one of Manchester’s last remaining Victorian mills and has been designed to retain many of the original features. Celebrating the area’s history, Avro takes its name from aviation manufacturer A.V. Roe and Co, which once occupied Brownsfield Mill and built iconic aircraft such as the Avro 504, Lancaster and Vulcan. R.A.D. Mechanical Services Ltd. was contracted by Urban Splash Construct Ltd. to supply, install and commission the plumbing and mechanical services for the development. Viega’s Profipress system was chosen for the hot and cold water distribution system after R.A.D. Mechanical was introduced to the product on a separate project.

chieving 60°C in a calorifier is a basic requirement for a commercial domestic hot water (DHW) system. But achieving this through a direct electriconly immersion system is costly,

even when compared to current surging gas prices. For this reason, air source heat pumps (ASHPs) would appear to be a perfect alternative, supplying low carbon heat to the building. However, with ASHPs offering greater efficiencies in lowtemperature systems, the hightemperature demands of commercial applications prove challenging. High working flow temperature from the ASHP would need to be at least 65°C, but to achieve this requires greater compression of the refrigerant, requiring more electrical input which results in lower efficiency or Coefficient of Performance (COP). As well as struggling to achieve these temperatures yearround in the UK, the very low drop in COP counteracts the value from deploying ASHP. A working flow of 55°C is however attainable all year round from an ASHP. If employed as a source for a preheat, the heat pump can be used to offset the direct electric costs of topup after heat. Therefore, commercial new builds, where gas is less likely to be specified, are defaulting to this hybrid option.

New laboratory testing proves Fellowes air purifiers remove over 99.99% covid19 virus

L

eading commercial air purification manufacturer, Fellowes, is pleased to announce its AeraMax Pro AM3 and AM4

air purifiers have been proven to be effective in eliminating aerosolised concentration of SARSCoV2, the highly transmissible and pathogenic virus responsible for the COVID19 disease pandemic, by 99.9999% through a single air pass test of the purifier. As part of its continued commitment to clean air, the manufacturer volunteered its

AeraMax Pro AM3 and 4 air purifiers to be tested against the healththreatening airborne transmitted COVID19 virus contaminants at the University of Genoa, School of Medicine, Department of Experimental Medicine. The study found that the Fellowes air purifiers neutralised the airborne viral load of SARSCoV2 entirely and were able to remove 99.9999% of the aerosolised SARSCoV2 through a single pass of the purifier. The result comes following the manufacturer’s recent studies released in early 2021,

where its AeraMax Pro products showed a 99.99% airborne reduction of a coronavirus surrogate and 99.9% removal of the H1N1 flu virus (commonly known as Swine Flu).

aniflo UK – a leading designer and manufacturer of pumps and macerators – continues to provide drainage solutions

The busy caravan site encompasses a block with shower and WCs and has recently expanded from 5 to 10 pitches plus two sizeable glamping pods complete with bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and living room.. Waste from the house and the toilet block is

discharged to a septic tank that was recently upgraded due to new regulations that came into effect in 2020. A separate chemical disposal point was also installed for the caravan site. The proposed space on site for the glamping pods did not have sufficient gravity fall to reach the septic tank, which was 70m away, and thus required a pump to discharge the waste. A Sanifos 610 underground lifting station provided the perfect solution; with sufficient capacity to accommodate more units in future. A clearing behind the farmhouse was

prepared which included concrete bases for the pods, a large pit for siting the Sanifos and trench for the main connection pipe. A small shed was erected to house the electrics and alarm for the Sanifos. The pods were dropped into place and the waste connections installed from the borehole water supply, which has its own water filtration system. The Sanifos 610 has a 612litre tank and is

offered with a choice of one or two pumps. Galley Hill Farm specified the twin pump model to ensure continuity of service.

systems to composite metal decking. To provide specifiers with additional confidence, Lindapter commissioned BRE Global to run third party fire tests in accordance with BS EN 199112 on a range of Decking Fixings installed in concrete backed composite decking profiles. The BRE test report P116310 Issue 1 verifies load limits for 60 minute and 90 minute fire ratings. Lindapter’s extensive range of high quality, cost effective decking fixings are conveniently installed by locking inside the dovetail re entrant channels of popular composite decking profiles. This innovative technique provides an adjustable fixing point for suspending mechanical and electrical equipment that is fast to install and does not compromise the strength of the deck. water, air, and surfaces. In this method of disinfection, no substance is applied to the unit – making it a simple, inexpensive, and a very low method that offers an ongoing maintenance. Blue Science utilises the disinfectant properties of UVc light to break down microorganisms that bypass the filter and cling on to surfaces such as the coil and fan blades. If left untreated, these microorganisms can sporadically release into the air flow over time. Exposing these areas to UVc leads to inactivation of the organisms by rupturing the walls of its cells. With sufficient exposure, the DNA replication process is disrupted, and the cell cannot replicate, in fact, when the organism tries to replicate, it dies. Additional to the Standard Kit; BlueScience Pro Kit provides a further

UVc light to treat and protect the air in larges FCU’s or populated areas. The BlueScience ProKit is a quick and easy way to simply enhance the UVc dosage from the LED Driver. Firstly, you must purchase the Standard Kit and install the LED Driver & 700mm LED Strip. The ProKit can then be added by adding the splitter (supplied with the ProKit). Then connect the 700mm LED Strip (supplied with the StandardKit) and 1000mm LED Strip (supplied with the ProKit) into the splitter.
