Selected for its high quality, quick installation and reduced risk of leaks, Viega’s Profipress range has been installed at The Lexington apartment complex – a new high­rise residential building being constructed by luxury residential developer Moda Living, at the Princes Dock in Liverpool.

ocated on the city’s waterfront, The Lexington will become an icon of the Liverpool skyline. Part of Liverpool Water’s £5.6 billion re-generation project, the New York style building will include 325 luxury apartments, a sky lounge, gym and rooftop garden. Upon completion, it will become the third tallest building in Liverpool at 112.5 metres.


Having previously worked with Viega on multiple projects, the installer, Briggs & Forrester Living, specified Viega’s Profipress system for its quality and safety features of the system. Over 17,000 Profipress copper fittings for the hot and cold water supply were installed in sizes ranging from 15 to 54mm.


Given the luxury specification of the apartments, reducing the risk of any leaks that could cause damage to the building was a pre-requisite of the system design.

The Profipress system features Viega’s SC-Contur technology, which is designed to deliver a 100% positive leak if the fitting is inadvertently unpressed – clearly discernible during leakage testing or when the system is filled for the first time. This provides a reliable method of detecting any issues early in the process to avoid costly and time-consuming remedial work. “Having recently completed a successful installation for Moda Living in which we specified Viega’s Profipress system, we found it to be a well-engineered, high-quality product. It was therefore an obvious choice to utilise the system again for this project.” said Peter Noble, regional pre-contract manager at Briggs and Forrester Living.


“For luxury high-rise apartments, such as the Lexington, it is crucial that quality and assured piping systems are used to prevent any system failures. We know from our previous experience of working with Viega’s Profipress system that it is the ideal fit for this building and for us.”


Cut carbon emissions with Adveco FUSION Commercial Hybrid Hot Water Systems


Commercial hot water specialist Adveco has introduced the FUSION FPH­S range of low carbon, all­electric, packaged hybrid hot water systems.

The FPi32 ASHP is specified to supply a working flow of 50°C for system preheat throughout the year, even when ambient air temperatures drop as low as -25°C. Electric immersion top-up then raises system temperatures in the calorifier to the necessary 60°C to meet commercial requirements for safe hot water demands. The stainless steel construction of the ATSH also makes it an excellent all-rounder, resistant to soft


USION harnesses Adveco’s FPi32 air source heat pumps (ASHP), a high-pressure ATSH calorifier with electric immersion, controls, and metering to provide a


water corrosion and, with FUSION’s unique low electric immersion heat intensity (6W/cm²), is more resistant to scale build-up in hard water areas. The physical design, dedicated controls and integrated metering ensures the ASHP preheat, and immersion work seamlessly to deliver the highest operational efficiencies. This enables FUSION to make the greatest gains possible from the heat pump, even when ambient temperature and system demands fluctuate. These gains offset much of the direct electrical energy usually required, delivering 53% carbon emissions saving and helping control the operational costs of providing business- critical hot water.
