Installing Smith’s Caspian Fan Convectors with smart control improved the efficiency and control of the heating at Stoneleigh Baptist Church

A

total rethink was needed to update the heating system at Stoneleigh Baptist Church in Epsom. The client wanted to improve the

efficiency and to be able control of the church heating system more precisely because the facility serves varied community needs. Consequently, Simon Butcher of Smith’s and Adrian Fuller of Fuller Heating, developed a system which met the client’s requirements. By installing wallmounted Caspian fan convectors with Smart Control and an Ostro air curtain, also with Smart Control, in place

of the old Reznor unit heaters and ducting, a heating system which could respond quickly to the needs of the users was installed thereby minimising the waste of energy. In addition, the Smart Control system allowed remote monitoring, management and control of the heating system via an app by the facilities manager. construction project the reasons for using the planning service are manifold. This applies not only to planners, but also to larger installation companies. We offer various modules based on the relevant standards and technical regulations. These include heating load and pipe network calculations, line diagrams, floor plan project plans and detailed material extracts.

In addition, the planning data for all piping

systems is available in various formats or programs. Planners or planning installation companies can access the BIM Revit format, VDI 3805 data sets and the Plancal Nova program. In addition to the CAD data, information on the installation such as dimensions, weight, installationdimensions or thread types is stored. The entire product data is also available to all

partners via ,Open Datacheck (for wholesalers) and the ZVSHK "Open Datapool" portal. In addition, there is Open Masterdata. All product data is transmitted monthly from the specialist wholesalers to the companies.

pipework & ducting components for airconveying, extractlines or gravity chutes. Available in 21 diameters, available from 60mm to 1600mm in a choice of 1mm, 2mm or 3mm thick powder coated, galvanised or stainless steel. Each component has a machinelipped end which, when fitted with a specially designed “U” shaped gasket & QuickConnect pullring, creates a tight connection, with our 2mm wall range certified to 3bar overpressure. This tightness is achieved in a pipe system along with the capability of fast installation and fast dismantling when needed. A wide range of accessories complement your options – inspection doors, sight ducts,

productcontrol and aircontrol valves and diverters are pressformed to high tolerances. A popular choice for HVAC and environmental applications, JACOB systems are found in industries as diverse as biomass to petrochemicals or sugar to semiconductors.

uceco has recently supplied interior and exterior amenity lighting to Springhills Independent Living Scheme at Outwood, provided by Wakefield and District Housing Limited. WDH is

one of the UK’s largest social housing providers, with over 32,000 homes across the Wakefield district and the north of England. Springhills is a purpose built retirement development of 33 flats

that has recently enjoyed a refurbishment and the lighting played a key part in creating a safe and comfortable environment. Atlas circular bulkhead fittings were used throughout the interior with the perimeter of the building lit with Atlas with metal eyelid cover decors. Standard, emergency, and integral microwave sensor versions were used to reduce energy consumption in circulation areas. With the corridor function selected, the sensor adjusts the light level to 10% of the normal level when the space is unoccupied creating a safe and secure yet welllit environment with cost effectiveness and environmental issues in mind. Luceco’s Project Manager Ryan Taylor said “As well as creating safe and comfortable

environments, WDH are also committed to achieving net zero carbon operations and embedding sustainability into their services, this lighting refurbishment will greatly assist this aim at Springhills.”

ince October 2021, the units in Swegon’s GLOBAL AHU range have been updated to synchronise with the flagship GOLD

range of units with new colour, logos and labels.

In addition to a better coherence of the

GLOBAL range, this new finish also ensures a better aesthetic representation for projects where the units are immediately visible. GLOBAL is an ideal onepiece air handling

unit for small and mediumsize air volumes. With short delivery times and easy, user friendly commissioning no advanced specialist knowledge is required. The series of energy efficient and robust air handling units are developed for installation engineers who have projects needing a cost effective solution and a short delivery time – without compromising on efficiency and usability. The updated TAC6 integrated control and regulating equipment makes startup easy, while operational maintenance is minimal e.g. filter replacement, which is indicated by a service alarm. With this air handling unit, the end user gets a good indoor climate at an economical price point. Depending on the area of application and the specific onsite requirements, the GLOBAL

dating back to 1878! It is estimated that around 11 million people are living in unsafe properties in the UK. Replacing unsuitable cladding or installing effective fire alarms into existing premises can be costly, but recently KEIM Mineral Paints have confirmed that their products conform to the most rigorous fire safety standards (A2s1, d0 according to EN 135011). This now gives architects, housing associations, and commercial building owners a cost effective, eco friendly, incombustible alternative. KEIM explained, ‘We have seen a significant increase in the number of enquiries we’ve received. Until recently it’s been the breathability and durability of our paints that have seen them being chosen across highrise to heritage projects. Now though the emphasis is on fire safety, with contractors, architects alike specifying KEIM for refurbishments and new builds.’ Not just for highrise blocks, currently the UK Standard stipulates buildings of 18 metres or higher, but all manner of structures, houses, flats, hotels, could reduce the risk of fires spreading by using KEIM.

benefitting from the expertise of Setpoint Solutions and manufacturer LG following the installation of a comprehensive heating, cooling and hot water system at its impressive new home. The new club facilities include indoor bowling on 8 rinks and a 6 rink outdoor green. The biggest challenge of the project was the heating and cooling for the indoor green area – a massive area measuring 40 metres by 40 metres, with a ceiling height of 8 metres. LG Multi V5 25kW high static ducted units were selected for the job

T

which cope well with long piping distances between condensers and fan coils. The bar lounge, changing rooms and office areas are served with LG’s efficient ceiling mounted cassettes and heat recovery ventilation units which are linked to a 25kW LG Hydro kit which provides the low pressure hot water heating circuit. The complete solution is operated by the LG Touch Screen Controller and maximises efficiency while also reducing running costs for the Club. Full details of the LG Multi V5 VRF system installed can be obtained
