NI’S PXI CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF BEING A LEADING STANDARD FOR AUTOMATED TEST

t this year’s NI Connect in Munich, customers will join NI to celebrate the 25th anniversary of PXI, a core technology that revolutionised test and measurement engineering. First introduced
in 1997, PXI is the leading standard for automated test and was the first product to simulate the signals necessary for solutions across many industries including Automotive, Semiconductor, Lifesciences, Energy, Aerospace, Electronics, and many others. PXI changed the test lab and production floor by combining multiple
box instruments into a form factor a fraction of the size without losing performance. Today, test engineers around the world rely on PXI to improve product quality, throughput, and efficiency of complex electronic designs. PXI’s combination of performance, an open standard, and a software-connected approach is critical to delivering increased value across industries known for constant innovation. “Celebrating PXI’s 25th

aerospace industry is seeking to find more environmentally-friendly ways to operate. Lilium, a leader in aircraft design and manufacturing, are aiming to make the ‘green dream’ of electric flight a reality with their Lilium Jet. The technology at the core of the Lilium Jet is Ducted Electric Vectored Thrust (DEVT). As an alternative to traditional jet engines which power 95 per cent of commercial aircraft, Lilium’s electric jet engines rely on a single ‘stage’ rotor/stator system driven by an electric motor to create propulsion. Integrated into the wing flaps, the electric jet engines are aerodynamically efficient, lighter, quieter and provide thrust which can be directed to manoeuvre the aircraft. It is hoped aircraft powered by sustainable electricity will significantly reduce emissions, helping the world reach its Net Zero goals.

by Lilium to measure air pressures on the electric aircraft during development. a critical instrument in the development of the Lilium Jet, sensing tiny changes in pressure with industry-leading levels of accuracy. The data is fed back
