During initial installation a self-configuration sequence replicates all calibration data into the Sensor Memory, eliminating the possibility for errors and avoiding time-consuming, matched pair installation of sensor and transmitter. Then it is quick and easy to swap out transmitter modules at any time with no need for reprogramming. We continue to support verification with our fingerprinting process. A simple fingerprint test can now we completed as standard on the transmitter with no extra tools. This simple test can be enhanced with a full fingerprint verification using our Measurement Verification Software (SRV500).
What other tools does ABB offer to complement this digital-first flowmeter ecosystem?
(MTS) with semi-finished top and bottom works in stock at our UK factory based in Stonehouse. Our OTD deliveries will be better, and we have already seen reduction in our quoted lead times. The benefits of modularity of the EM electronics are enhanced as the electronics platform is the same as that in our other four wire flow technologies such as coriolis and thermal mass. These range from the same user experience and introduction of new connectivity options such as Power Over Ethernet (POE).
Connectivity is a big part of the new ABB flowmeter story? Why is this so important to customers?
IoT connectivity is embedded across all our new EM flowmeter models. This ensures seamless integration with existing systems, enabling superior data analytics and process optimisation. Users have a choice of high- speed communication options for plant-based or remote metering applications. IoT connectivity brings it all together by providing real- time data and insights, enabling proactive maintenance and process optimisation.
The ProcessMaster family let users enjoy the familiarity of connectivity via the analogue 4-20mA instrumentation world, as well as the increased speed and other benefits of digital communications. The FEW620 has an analogue card to provide a conventional output (e.g. 4-20mA) with an optional MODBUS card. The FEW630 has multiple plug-in digital cards options that lets users add the enhanced functionality and performance resulting from a variety of digital communication. We are seeing more interest in the use of Ethernet in our industries with Power over Ethernet (PoE) already available in ProcessMaster. As the EM electronics share the same electronics platform of coriolis and thermal mass we will soon introduce Advanced Physical Later (APL) into the ProcessMaster range.
How does the new flowmeter range enable simpler installation, operation and maintenance? All models feature an ‘Easy Setup’ parameter menu to simplify set-up, operation, diagnostics and maintenance. There’s also an updated Sensor Memory function that greatly simplifies commissioning in the field.
Our customers no longer just see a flowmeter simply as a passive device. They’re under pressure to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their operations and for utility providers, for example, they’re accountable to regulators and other stakeholders to demonstrate compliance and transparency in areas such as billing. ABB Ability solutions combine ABB’s deep domain expertise with connectivity and software innovation to empower real-time, data-driven decisions for safer, smarter operations that maximise resource efficiency.
My Measurement Assistant: Service support when and where you need it most! Web application that provides maintenance guidance including commissioning, troubleshooting, training and spare parts management.
Field Information Manager (FIM): Device management made easy! Designed with user- friendly FDI technology, it helps you streamline configuration, commissioning, diagnostics, and maintenance of fieldbus instruments. The latest release includes large system support with extended number of supported device tags, more flexibility in client/server deployment, additional field connectivity and strengthened Ethernet-APL support.
SRV500: In-situ device verification made easy! There are four versions basic, standard, enhanced and premium. The basic is a simple method (pass or fail) of checking the product health up to the premium version that uses a test box to verify the accuracy within +/- 1 per cent of the original factory calibration with a fingerprint verification and generating reports.
