More data Means More control
As the data handling capabilities of networks improves, there will be a greater use of data to control processes. More devices with Ethernet

to better monitor KPIs, by pulling data to the office and ensuring better control, leading to less waste and a higher quality product. For example, it could help a food and beverage company use the right amount of oil or flour in a mixing vessel, only paying for what it needs. Control systems such as the ABB 800xA are

to a customer’s data sent from Edge computing facilities to the Cloud. One international chemical company that stores products on a
wide range of sites found that the data on which product wat at which site was not transparent enough and not available in real time. Switching to Edge computing and Ethernet accessible data, it built a system that gives it one place to find and manage its inventory, allowing a better understanding of what product is located where. Ethernet thus goes beyond the purely
