NEW SPLIT CABLE GLAND EXPANDS RANGE C
heshire based M. Buttkereit has further expanded its range of cable entry systems with the introduction of a new split cable gland. The
DES-CLICK split cable gland is available in three metric thread sizes - M20, M25 and M32, with ingress protection offered to IP54. The system allows for cables with pre-wired connectors or moulded
plugs to be sealed and secured without the need for cutting and re-wiring. The gland is a combination of a poly-carbonate outer shell and an
elastomer cable retaining insert. Assembly of the DES-CLICK is simple - the insert is fitted around the cable and then mounted within the shell. The two halves of the shell then click together to close the unit. The process is completely tool-free. The cable inserts are available for cables with an outer diameter of
2mm up to 16mm It is also possible to have two or four entry holes, allowing multiple cables to be fitted within a single gland, saving installation time and space. The DES-CLICK is operable in temperatures from -40o +155o
C to C, with a
flammability rating of UL94-VO. It is available in black or light grey and all the glands are supplied with locknuts as standard. The cable inserts are the same as used throughout the DES cable entry system.

NEW ALL-TERRAIN POWER QUALITY ANALYSER
C
hauvin Arnoux has recently launched the C.A 8436 Qualistar+, a new all-terrain power quality analyser, which is ideal for making
accurate and reliable measurements in the field. The instrument can be used on all types of low voltage installations
for preventive and corrective maintenance, and also as an aid to fault-finding. Furthermore, it features rugged, watertight construction with an IP67 protection rating, which makes it suitable for outdoor as well as indoor applications. The C.A 8436 Qualistar+ has five voltage inputs and four current
inputs, and supports simultaneous recording of all voltage, current and power parameters. Current measurements in the range 100mA to 10,000A are facilitated by the use of MiniFLEX flexible sensors that are easy to install and require no direct connection to the circuits being monitored. The instrument measures total power, active power, reactive power,
power factor and many other key power parameters, as well as providing detailed information about harmonics up to the 50th, total harmonic distortion (THD), flicker, transients and energy usage. Results are displayed numerically and graphically on a large TFT colour screen which offers both day and night modes, to ensure comfortable viewing under all conditions. It is also possible to set up to 10,000 alarms of 40 different types.
This feature is an invaluable aid to diagnosing intermittent problems, and for alerting users to power quality problems when the instrument is used for long-term monitoring. All data collected by the instrument is recorded automatically and recording periods from two weeks to several years are possible.

NEW 1000V VDE INSULATED BATTERY POWERED HYDRAULIC TOOLS K
lauke has set the standard when it comes to innovation and safety in
the power cable termination market - the new Orange line of cable cutting and compression tools has been thoroughly tested by VDE for a voltage withstand of 10,000 volts for safe working at 1,000 volts. The new range has been carefully
developed by the R&D department in Remscheid, Germany, and provides every cable jointer, lineman or contractor with an added layer of safety from electric shock. The design of the Orange line has
created an insulation barrier between the working blades/jaws and the body of the tool. If a power cable becomes live, or the wrong cable has been identified, then the new Orange line will add a further layer of protection against electric shock. Included in the new range are cable
cutters up to 50mm diameter, which can cut different cable constructions, including steel wire armour, and crimping tools up to 300mm2
