Megan Larson, IRC joined Efficient Markets as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. Ef- ficient Markets


is the unlisted holding company for EnergyNet and Indigo Energy Advisors. She was previously Senior Advisor, Investor Relations at Murphy Oil Corporation, where she worked for six years, and was part of the NIRI 2025 40 under 40 cohort. Tis past summer she earned her U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Master License, which allows her to serve as captain on a range of vessels.


Laura Kier- nan, CPA, IRC joined Clear Channel Outdoor as Vice Presi- dent, Investor Relations. She


was previously Senior Vice President and IR consultant at Rivel. Kiernan also operated her own consultancy, High Touch Investor Relations, for more than five years. She was the head of investor relations for six publicly listed companies prior to launching her own firm. She is the former President and current member of the Board of Directors of the NIRI New York chapter. Kiernan also serves as Vice Chair of the IRC Certification Council and previously served on the Certification Scheme Committee and the Examination Development Committee.

Advocating on Capitol Hill Te 2025 Fly-In gathered members of the NIRI Board of Directors, chapter Advocacy Ambassadors and leaders, and other inter- ested NIRI members from across the entire United States including Alaska. The event kicked off with a timely


briefing by FTI experts on the evolving political landscape in Washington, D.C. and its influence on the public company regulatory environment. Attendees then enjoyed informative sessions that offered tips for advocacy success on Capitol Hill, and highlighted NIRI legislative priorities. Members then formed groups to meet with a dozen representatives and staff from the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate to seek their support in these areas. Te first issue NIRI members raised was


the proposed legislation to establish an SEC Public Company Advisory Committee. Te SEC has formal advisory committees for many capital markets constituents such as institutional investors, asset managers and fixed income managers, but not public companies. NIRI believes the Commission would benefit from the perspective of public

companies outside of the comment let- ter process in SEC rulemakings, and it has joined with the Society for Corporate Governance to introduce a bill, H.R. 4652, to establish this committee. Te bill has garnered bipartisan congressional support, and efforts are underway to move it forward. Members also asked Congress to sup-


port the joint NIRI, Society for Corporate Governance and NYSE Petition for Rule- making aimed at modernizing Section 13(f) of the Securities Exchange Act. Tis petition proposes shortening the disclosure deadline for investment managers with over $100 million in assets from the current 45 days to five business days. Currently, these managers file Form


13F to report their share ownership, which serves as a critical source of information for U.S. companies to identify their investors and for investors to track market trends. Te existing rules, established in 1979,


are outdated and hinder the flow of timely information that is essential for both inves- tors and public companies. Te proposed changes aim to enhance transparency and improve access to timely ownership information for all market participants.
