Like many in this industry, balancing personal and pro- fessional life is challenging. Long working hours, travel, and the demands of an extremely competitive industry involve sacrifices.

He Continues

“I often miss important dates like Christmas and bir- thdays, but I try to make up for it by visiting friends or spending time with my family whenever I can. Also, the- re are non-negotiable days when I decide not to travel.”

Although music creation is his passion, Orpi acknowle- dges that being a DJ and producer involves much more than just making music and playing it. From managing contracts and emails to defining marketing strategies, there are a series of administrative tasks that requi- re his attention. However, he finds a balance between these responsibilities and his love for music.

“When I’m not producing, I’m doing administrative work. Being a producer and DJ is much more than making music and playing it; there are contracts to read, emails to respond to, numerous calls, defining marketing and logistical issues... Things I don’t enjoy doing as much, but are extremely necessary and demand a lot of work and dedication.”

It’s a pity that in every job there are things that are not exactly what we fell in love with, but they are really important. Being an artist is no exception.

“If it were up to me, I would be DJing or producing mu- sic 24/7. Besides, I take care of animating the music videos that I release with each release, this takes a lot of time even if they are only videos of a little over a minute.”

As if that weren’t enough, last year Daniel launched his record label, Diggin’. “Diggin’ added a lot of tasks to my daily routine.”

However, we know that everything revolves around mu- sic, and for Daniel, creating is about constantly expo- sing himself to moments that provoke deep inspiration.

“My creative process is not linear at all; sometimes everything starts with a vocal, other time with a song I hear that I like its rhythm and inspires me. Once I have the base of the song, the rest flows.”

“Listening to new music from a genre other than elec- tronic inspires me a lot, the vocals, the bass, someti- mes it’s a very specific sound of a song they play on the radio that immediately I write down in the notes on my phone to listen to it again at home.”

“Going to electronic music parties also motivates me a lot, seeing other people play is a great source of ins- piration.”
