LIFE ON TOUR: EXHAUSTING AND REWARDING

As a DJ, part of Daniel Orpi’s life includes traveling to play at different events and venues. Although it can be exhausting, he finds a balance between work and personal time, seizing every opportunity to explore new cities and cultures.

“I am part of two booking agencies, The Bullitt Agency represents me worldwide except in Europe where Oasis Bookings represents me, and they are the ones who decide which events and places are part of my tour according to a strategy we have agreed upon for my brand. Of course, the final word is mine, but I’m always willing to take my music everywhere; nothing makes me happier than dancing with the audience of a new city.”

Before taking the stage, Orpi prepares mentally and emotionally, meditating and fueling up at the venue. His main goal is to make people have fun and dance throughout his set, transmitting positive energy and good vibes to his audience.

“Traveling is very tiring, but from the beginning, one knows what this profession is like, so I don’t complain. When I’m traveling, I like to watch movies or read.”

And before DJing, there’s nothing like feeling the vibe of the place.

“I try to meditate before each show, and I also like to arrive early at the clubs to get into the atmosphere and see what kind of audience there is, whether they are young or older people, if it’s an intimate club or a lar- ge one... Arriving early gives me a lot of peace of mind when playing.”

In the end, you have to make time for everything; you can’t work 24/7.

“I work when I’m traveling, but I always try to leave some free hours to get to know the city I’m in, as well as go to the gym since I try to compensate for being seated on a plane for so many hours.”

“My main goal is for people to have a good time, to dan- ce throughout my set, and to be able to show them new music. What I like most about everything I do is seeing people enjoying themselves while they dance. I hope to convey great energy and good vibes in general.”

The stories behind the songs are often fascinating. Each song by Daniel Orpi tells a story that conveys positive emotions. About “Angel de la Guarda” Daniel remembers:

“Angel De La Guarda” is a track that came out on Whi- ppin, by Mason Collective in 2021. The creation process of this track was very different from the usual. I usua- lly start with the drums and the groove and from there look for the hook, which is usually a vocal.”
