The grieving family of a Clitheroe motorcyclist who was killed in a Lake District crash have paid tribute to a “loving son, husband,father and grandfather".
Motorbike enthusiast Steven Heaney (55), of St Paul’s Street, LowMoor.diedaftersuffering
s e r io u s in ju r ie s , in the collision on the Hawkshead to Graythwaite Road, near
Windermere, on Saturday (March 21st) at approximately 6pm.
. Mr Heaney was riding a
Honda motorbike while he travelled as part of a convoy and came off his bike, police said. No o th e r v eh ic le s were involved and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Earlier this week, Mr
Heaney’s family paid tribute to the father-of-two. describing him as “irreplaceable”. They said: “Steven had ’
been mad about motorbikes for over 40 years and loved going off on day trips to the
Lake District with his friends. “Steven was a loving
husband to Susan, father to Patrick and Emma, son to Sam and Norma and grandfather to Kieran and Jason. He will be greatlymissedbyallwhoknew and loved him.” Mr Heaney was a well-
known mem ber o f th e East L an cash ire bik in g community. John Colbert, who runs Ribble Valley Motorcycles in Whalley Road, Clitheroe,saidhesawhimonly a day before the accident. He said: “It was a big shock when 1 heard Steven had passed
away. He was a steady biker and had a few motorcycles. He regularly visited my shop and was here buying something on Friday. He was a quiet man, keepnghimself to himself. It’s very sad what’s happened.” Police investigations are
continuing into the accident, but Mr Heaney’s death is not believed to be suspicious. Officers are keen to speak
