Fundraising for a charity start­ ed by a Clitheroe family after the tragic loss of their baby boy is gaining rapid momentum.


Zayn’s Gift was started by par­ ents Yas Nawaz and Clare How­ ell after the tragic stillbirth of their son Zayn saw them look- ingforawaytohelpotherfami- lies who find themselves in a similar position. They quickly set about try­


ing to raise the funds required to buy the much-needed spe­ cialist equipment needed fol­ lowing a still birth, such as cold cots, to enable families to spend precious time with their baby. They also pledged to try togenerallyassistgrievingpar- ents and families and contrib- utetowardsmore research into


stillbirths. The couple are also looking


at ways to raise awareness of Group B Strep, anormal occur­ ring bacterid infection which around 25% of women carry

A scheme has been launched in East Lancashire that will help vulnerable pregnant and new mums cope with major life changes. Thanks to a cash injection


from the Big Lottery Fund, the Snowdrop Doula Com-’ munity Interest Company is


in a position to run the pilot project thatwilloffercontinu- ous one-to-one doula support throughout pregnancy, birth


and beyond. A doula is someone who


can provide emotional and physical support to families to ease their transition into


parenthood. They can provide a range


of services, from helping with other children to nurturing and supporting the new or expectant mother. It is not a medical post
