Ribble Valley Fitness Centre and Boxing Club (Valley Fit ness), based at Mearley Street in Clitheroe, for whom it was their first amateur boxing show event. ' The: com p e t it ion was
tough; but Reece Farnhill (16), boxing at 65kg, won with a unanimous decision, while Liam Dewhurst (20), boxing

Village honours ‘forgotten’ heroes
-Three “forgotten” Great War heroes whose names are miss ing from Simonstone vifiage war memorial are finally set to be honoured. Historians discovered
the soldiers’ names were not etched on to the memorial at
- St Peter’s Church which pays tribute to 36 men from Read and Simonstone killed in the First World War.

Gilbert Yates, who died from wounds in 1915, weaver L/ Cpl Robert James Breckell,
■ killed serving for the Canadi- : an Saskatchewan Regiment in 1916, and cotton mill owner Ernest Thistlethwaite, of the Household Cavalry, who died
of wounds in 1917 in Etaples, are absent from the stone roll call of the dead.
