Boxing great Thomas “Hitman” Hearns (pictured on the right) will make a special guest appearance at the Stirk House Hotel in Gisburn on Monday. Hearns is renowned as one of the sport’s legendary figures after becoming the first fighter in history to win five world titles in five different divisions. Window smashed and money taken
A motorist returned to his car to find a window smashed and £50 in change missing. Offenders targeted the near side window of the Audi A4 parkedin Garnett Road, Clitheroe, and escaped with the money. The theft occurred between 1-30 and 8-15 p.m. last Fri day, November 7th. If you have'anyinformationre- garding this incident, call police on 101.
Health centre staff aft awards ceremony
Slaidburn GP surgery staff are General Practice Team ofthe Year finalists fortheir Save Our Surgery campaign. They will attend a General Practice awards ceremony in London on November 20th. The campaign brought the surgery to the attention of East Lancashire Medical Services, a local not-for- profit social enterprise . which also runs the area’s out of hours GP service and is now the surgery’s partner.

Richard Adrian Daykin (23), of Bright Street, Clitheroe, was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £110 with £105 costs by Blackburn magistrates after admitting driving with excess alcohol. The court heard that he gave a breath alcohol reading of 49 against the legal limit of 35. He told the court he had made a mistake, saying: “I have learned the hard way and this will definitely be the last time.”
