- Jobcentresparkedacampaign involvirigtheboroughcouncil, Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans, trade unions and Christian groups to stop the closure. Consultations had been
undertaken to assess wheth er it was feasible to move the services provided at Clitheroe Jobcentre to its Blackburn of-
- flee. : A DWP spokesman said:
“We ran a consultation to ask local people what they thought and after listening to
their views we have decided to continue to deliver Jobcentre services from Clitheroe. . “We’ll continue to hold dis
cussions with other organisa tions in the area on how we can best provide local servic es in the future to ensure we help as many people as possi ble into work.”

Council leader Stuart Hirst, who lobbied for the Jobcen tre to remain open, said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Department for Work and Pensions has accepted the many arguments put forward by the, council and others against closure of the centre. :
