Turn detective tomorrow night byj oining Phil Dykes, East Lancashire reserves officer for the Lancashire Wild life Trust, on a bat hunt (like the one pictured above) that starts at the gates of Brungerley Park, Waddington Road, Ciitheroe, at 8 pm. The hunt- Phil’s last guided nature walk of 2014 - is suit able for adults and children aged eight plus. It will follow the park path to the river just at the time when Brunger- ley’s resident bat population should be out looking for its meal of insects. To help you find bats, Phil will hand out special bat detec tors, small monitors that pick up on echolocation (calls bats produce from their larynx or voice box) to navigate in the dark as they hunt. It should all be good fun - and what is more it is free. Wrap up warm, as it will be fully dark before the hunt’s finished anditisalsoagoodideato pack a torch. There is no need to book, but i f you would like to speak to Phil beforehand he can be contacted on 07841996722.
