byCourtReforter : www.clitheraeadvertiser.co.uk ■ Twittengclithadvertiser ;

Agrandmotherwasleft shocked after returning from work to find her own grand son in her Clitheroe home without permission. Blackburn magistrates heard

: that Wesley Russell, who was on bail having admitted steal-

. ingmoneyfromhisuncle,was ordered out of the property. : But he returned later in the

day, forced entry through the cellar and carried out a “messy search” of the property. Russell (19), of Lowergate,

Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal.' He was committed in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced.

, - Mrs Philippa White (pros

ecuting) said that Russell had previously lived with his grandmother, but had left to set up home with his girl friend. He told his grandmother that the door had not been

secure and he had simply walked in. Butheactually had akey whichhedid notwanthis grandmother to take offhim. Mrs White told the court:

“He was asked to leave and shortly afterwards his grand ma left her home, double lock ing the door behind her. “When she returned she

discovered the cellar door had been forced, a lock on an officehadbeen tampered with: and her bedroom had been searched.”

When he was interviewed

by the police, Russell claimed that he had been in the house looking for a laptop computer so that he could use it to com plete a job application. Mr Gareth Price (defend

ing) said that when Russell ■ first let himself into the prop erty his only intention had •. been to find the laptop com puter and complete the job application. . . Mr Price added: “He ac

cepts that on his second en try hedidhaveanoseyaround : the property, but nothing was . taken.”
