In the open forum at the meeting, it was reported that dis cussion had taken place with Lanca shire County Coun cil highways rep resentatives about problems of acces's caused by parked vehicles in Queen Street, Princess Street, King Street next to-Cornmill Mews and in The Sidings, near the railway station.

Coun. Highton said he would also like to thank Nick Walker and the Save Whal ley Village action group for their work in compiling evidence to assem ble objections to to these major plan ning applications.

“The major issue for the parish council is that the infrastruc ture in the village will not support these proposed de velopments, partic ularly lack of places in primary and sec ondary education, drainage and traffic congestion.”

Coun Highton, com- menting on Ribble Valley Borough Counefl’s core strat egy said the strategy was not ready for adoption. “Devel opers have taken advantage of the delay by submitting further planning ap plications for more significant housing developments in the village. I would particularly like to thank oiir chairman . of planning, Coun. Stephen Barker for the many hours of preparation prior to these meetings and respresenting the council at the Rib ble Valley planning committee and the subsequent appeal hearing;
