YOU CAN TAKE A WALK THROUGH TIME IN THE NEW DISPLAYS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC IN
THE COLLEGE DO ROOM. __displays in this area have been revamped for this
year's new summer opening times. Take a tour through all of the history that can be found in the stunning collections of artefacts that are held at the College.
MANY OF THESE OBJECTS ARE ON PUBLIC EXHIBITION FOR THE FIRST TIME
The largest and probably most striking
exhibit on show is an 18th Ceniury Portland stone eagle which originally stood on top of the North cupola at the front of Stonyhurst.
The eagle in the exhibition is the only one
still surviving after its parmer on the South cupola crashed to the ground during a storm in 1997 and smashed to pieces.
The eagle is a very impressive bird and
has a fossilised shell in its wing which has , become visible as some of the softer stone ^ has been worn away.
