councillors approved the wording of a document called the “Core Strate^’ that had been prepared by the local government officials and, due to the way that these meetings have been organised, it was not until the very end of the discussion that the chairman al­ lowed two councillors to raise fhe real issues, the issues .that affect the whole programme and there­ fore the whole community, both now and in the future. However, by then, the chairman wanted the meeting closed as soon as pos­ sible and those councillors who felt their constituents were least affected also wanted the meeting closed. The net result was that the “Core Strategy” was approved to be sent out for public debate. Some debate!

If you have any interest in the sort of town the government inspector, a man who is unelected, unknown and appears to be unin- terested in your welfare or your children’s welfare, is going to leave you with, make sure you read a copy of this document careffilly.
