Quaker history has been a strong testimony against war
and the preparation for war, and for social justice. In 2009, British Quakers
agreed to campaign for same- sex marriage, and earlier this year they agreed to become a low-carbon community. The lives Quakers lead are
as important as their distinctive form of worship. The open day at the Sawley
Quakers Meeting house runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and everyone is welcome to go along to see what a meeting house looks like, talk about the Quaker faith, or just enjoy tea and biscuits, and sit in the lovely garden there. Everyone is also very
welcome to join the group for worship on Sundays at 10-30 a.m. And this Sunday (October
9th) a special introduction will be given at the start for first timers. For more information, call 01200426266. Parking for the open day and
