in Wigan, Dr Austin at tended the University of Leicester to complete his further education and then the University of Brighton for his teaching qualifications. Having previously taught at schools in Sus

have been talking to the staff and will eventually consult governors and pupils. I have already asked parents to fill in a questionnaire about the strengths of the school and what improvements
they would like to see. I’m interested to know the views of everyone

Austin enjoys playing the guitar and piano, cycling and going to the cinema.

ACCOLADE: Chef proprietor Michael Heathcote (centre) with Duncan and Teresa Peters, of Relish Publications,
Eatery praised
in print... twice TWO new accolades have been added to the long list already amassed by the Duke of York, Grindleton. Chef proprietor Michael Heathcote was
delighted to attend the launch in Liverpool, of Relish Publications’ latest book, “Relish Merseyside and Lancashire”, in which his restaurant is featured. Also just published is the 2012-edition
of the Good Food Guide, in which “The Duke” is featured once again. The guide says that one reader pronounced it to be “a wonderful dining experience” and that such praise is echoed in many other reports for the Ribble Valley pub, of which the menu shows a thorough understanding of ingredi ents, flavours and textures.
FORMER derelict pub The Bridge Inn, on the edge of Clitheroe, has been given a new lease of life and the town itself a real boost to its retail offering with the arrival of sports
company Discover Golf. Owner and proprietor Andy Bellamy explained
that he wanted to provide a golf store with a dif ference. “It’s our goal to become the area’s premier golf
ing establishment and to do that, we need to pro vide a customer experience unlike any other,” he said.
“With top hardwear brands on board, we have
the vision that we will provide a service and selec tion of goods that will appeal to every golfer in the locality.” Discover Golf will provide an eclectic mix of tra
ditional golfing apparel, together with up-to-date golf fashion inspired by the tour players of today’s modem golfing culture. The store also houses a purpose-built prac
tice area with True Strike technology and a 27m squared hitting cage. Andy continued: “Along with the opening of our
Clitheroe store, we are looking into the possibility of working with the many “green grass” courses across Lancashire, Yorkshire and Manchester. We’re keen to speak to anyone who feels their club could benefit from working with us.”
