TWO local Cub leaders have been pre­ sented with the organisation’s top awards. At the St George’s Day service, which


was held at St Michael and St John’s RC Church in Clitheroe, Mr Len Dickinson was presented with the Silver Wolf and Mrs Jean Bentley received the Silver Acorn. - Mr Dickinson’s service as a Cub leader started in 1952 when he became Assistant Cub Scout Leader with the 354th Man­ chester Group. After a decade with the Manchester group he moved to Clitheroe in the 1960s and became a leader first at St Paul’s, then with the 1st Pendle Group. Mr Dickinson went on to become Akist-


ant District Commissioner, before becom­ ing District Commissioner for Clitheroe in 1991, a position he held until 1999. For Mr Dickinson more appointments


followed with the Clitheroe Scout Fel­ lowship and the East Lancashire County Executive, and he went on to become ap­ pointed Chairman of the District Appoint­ ment Advisory Committee. His previous awards have included the Medal of Merit in 1976, followed by the Bar in 1982. Seven years later he became a recipient of the Silver Acorn and was presented with the
