The ladies of Sawley WI were enter­ tained by Mr Michael Singleton, with a very interest­ ing talk on “The Work of the Coro­ ner’s Office”. He gave details of all aspects of his work

• most of his work revolves around unexplained or sud­ den death he revealed th a t responsibilities for “treasure trove” is still held by his office. After a lively question and answer session Mr Single- ton was thanked by Mrs Joyce Frost.


Winners of the com­ petition for a first aid tip were Joan Porter, Kate Sims and ■ Margaret Baines. Hostesses tor the evening were Ann Askew and Elizabeth Thornber who, as usual, pro­ vided delicious cakes and biscuits.


At the next meeting on September 17th, in the village hall at 7-30 p.m., the guest speaker will he the ever popular Mrs Pat Ashcroft. New members welcome.
