‘Red rose county’ has new look logo
:A:HISTORIC Lancashire icon has received a distinctive new look.
_
■ , Lancashire County Council's red rose logo has been updated with a new image, which will also save the council money.
- County Coun. Geoff Driver, leader of the council, said: “Local
people tell us that they want clear
- and regular communications from :us, and to know who to go for to get the services they need. The new logo is one step in our plans to improve the way we deal with our residents.
, “The Tu d o r rose is a much loved and well-known symbol of Lancashire and is p a r t of our county's heritage. The new logo reintroduces the county's rose and mixes it with an up-to-date look.” The redesign was created by the county council’s in-house , design staff. While the previous ■
council logo could be customised to include department names, the new version tvill be the standard logo for the whole council. Uoun.^Driver added: “I have
made it very clear that this will', hofacost us more money. The d e s i^ was done in-house and will be much cheaper to print than the old logo with its three colours.

new and ‘tru e blue’ rulers a t County Hall are keen to scrap the logo used by the previous ‘red’ incumbent, particularly, since i t bore such a strik in g resemblance to a national Labour Party logo? -
i“ Indeed, the county press release prefers to call i t the ‘Tudor rose’, lest someone might choke on the ‘red’ word. : “Gome to think of it, being the

red rose county must pose some thing of a dilemma for its new blue rulers. Then again, how embarrassing for Labour who, after claiming the red rose as their national party logo, promptly lose the red rose county in a land slide swing to the Tories. “Personally, I have no problem with the logo changing - 1 ju s t \vish they’d be hon est and say ‘We’re scrapping
