Heritage visit ./ I For the May meeting of Bolton-by-Bow- land WI, a visit to the Pendie Heritage Centre in Barrow- ford had been arranged in the evening for mem bers.

After meeting in the village and provid ing transport, the
. group arrived at the Heritage Centre
: and were met by the staff who explained what had been arranged.
Members were shown around the 18th Century Walled Garden which has been renovated to its original .design and contains plants which were common in that period, and from there to the Cruck Frame barn which houses a fam ily of goats. The group then moved inside to the muse um to hear about the origins of Park Hill, the original farm house and
- home to the Bannis ter family from the 1400s. Moving on throughthe exhibits members saw the history of the Pen die Witches and other exhibits of local history.
The evening conclud ed with an excellent buffet and thanks were expressed tO' the staff by Liz Moorhouse -on behalf of everyone for an excellent evening, which had been thoroughly enjoyed in lovely warm weather.
Before leaving for home, members dis cussed the forth coming Cancer Whist Drive on Wednesday, May 28th, finalising the details for the event.
Volunteers were requested to help with setting up, five helpers are needed to help on the evening and to help at the end. of. the
evening. Those who are providing the refreshments, please bring them to the village hall by 6-30 or 7 p.m.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 4th when local- resident: Roger Dewhurst will be talking about “A B i r d w a t c h e r ’ s Year”. This will be an open meeting and members can take a friend and anyone who is inter ested is very wel come to come and join in. Details of forthcoming events during the summer will be discussed at this meeting and final details will be available then. • - -
