Sophie’s family CAN we, as Sophie’s parents, say.a . massive thank you to all who took -, part in the Blackpool 10k run to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis , Trust.
Sophie has had this condition from
birth and was diagnosed at eight- and-a-half months old. It is with the kind hearts and gen
erosity of people like you that one, day they will hopefully find a cure for this life-threatening condition, to help not just Sophie, but all the - other children and adults with CF.; I would most of all like to thank -
Dave Gillibrand for organising and getting the support of his work col leagues to run and Calderstones NHS Trust to'support them. I have known Dave for nearly 30 years and he has been like a father to

last service special MAY I, as a true member of Sabden Methodist Church, one who attend ed every week and worked for the benefit of the church family, say a big thank you to those who ensured our final thanksgiving service was truly memorable. inexpensive goods ONCE again I find myself writing a letter regarding Clitheroe town cen- :.treshops. -,
- While I am in agreement with the
sentiments on the front page last week, I have to say it is difficult to support a town that does not cater for local people who cannot afford high priced goods such as clothes
■ and shoes for. a man. I personally have to go out of town for these products. You cannot buy essentials like a
school uniform for teenagers any more, and there is also very minimal choice to buy a man’s or child’s pair of shoes. So I would gladly shop in
Clitheroe, and do so when I can, but when I go to a supermarket in town I expect to pay the same price as the same supermarket in another town,
i but'through experience this is sadly ■not the case. .Lb'ought a product in another

: NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED Heads should roll
over this action THE people of Edisford and Low Moor received a letter this week about the forthcoming wheelie bin service. After reading it the people in the
area are up in arms,' not with the new system I might add, but with the sly underhanded way the coun cil deal with the public at large. Over the years we have had to put up with this council doing things

___ A timely warning
we seldom hear IT is to be regretted that an old adage is dropping from our local venacular. Fewer people know of: “Cast not
a clout, till May is out” - don’t cast off, or take off a piece of clothing till May is out.
• May is out,'some people say, until
the Mayflower is out in bloom. That is already now, mid-May. I prefer the interpretation “till
May is out” meaning May is fin ished, the end of the month. For after the warm summery days we have enjoyed this May invariably there is a return, before the month ends, to cold and bitter winds. And the sequence is of “grave”
- concern, “Or else you’ll lay beneath the clay” - you will lie, beneath the soil ie: buried, dead! ■ And particular caution should be
exercised by anyone with the name ; of Daniels. On a gravestone in Kent, it reads “Beneath this stone a lump of clay, lies Uncle Peter Daniels. Too early in the month of May he took
