! Tasty hunt I proves a hit! F

Youngsters’ hard work on show

PUPILS from Sabden Primary School got ready for Easter with a display and cake stall. The children each decorated an egg at home and took them to school to put on show'. The designs, which were left

up to each individual child, included Daleks and monsters. The school also ran a cake

stall, which is e.xpected to have raised £160. And pupils received a Fair

trade chocolate bar from the PTFA (Parents, Teachers and Friends Association) as a thank-you for all their hard work.

YOUNGSTERS from a Sawley toddler group took great delight searching the nooks and crannies of the village’s ancient ruins for their Easter eggs.

The treasure hunt held at Sawley Abbey

attracted around 10 toddlers in the morning and a further 10 in the afternoon. It was held to mark the end of term for Sawley Prc- Montossorl Toddler Group. After searching for the eggs, the youngsters

were duo to have a picnic in the Abbey grounds, hut owing to bad weather this was adjourned to Sawley Village Hall where they enjoyed Easter biscuits and hot cross buns.

49 show lambs by the pre sale judge, Mr Chris Staines. They sold to wholesale butcher Stephen Riley, of Dun- nockshaw, who also bought the brothers’ next lot at £85, or 224p per kilo, for a 38 kilo single Te.xel lamb. Average were: new sea

son lambs - up to32kgs 163p; 33-39kgs 190p; 40- 45kgs177p; 46-52kgs 141p. (s)
