annual Royal Lan cashire Show. For the first time

full equestrian timetable and a top-class field of showjumpers, who will be jumping for the total prize money in excess of a whopping £50,000. The star-studded
line-up includes 17 of the top 20 riders. These include John and Michael Whitaker, Tim Stockdale, William Funnell, Mark Armstrong, Ellen Whitaker, and David McPherson.
This year’s main
ring attractions include demonstra tions of traditional log-cutting by “Adam’s Axemen”, Shire horses and teams, and the ever popular country side ring with many country pursuits on display, including sheepdog trials. On the final day
of the rural show, there will be an opportunity to wit ness terrier racing. Other brand-new highlights include a harvest demonstra tion, enabling crowds to see how hay used to be made. No aspect of

Search begins for Miss Royal Lancashire 2006
THE search for Miss Royal Lancashire 2006 has begun. Glitz and glamour will take cen tre stage at the Royal Lancashire Show- ground from tomorrow onwards. Fashion-conscious people are in for a real
treat, thanks to the events at the Ladies’ Marquee. The first day is traditionally Ladies’ Day, when the best dressed lady will
be announced. The popular “Celebrations and Wedding
Fayre” will once again run over the three days, incorporating bridal and fashion shows, a chocolate fountain, cake, wine and canape sampling, jewellery, beauty consul tations, photographer, shoes, plus many
more attractions. There will be shows by V8 of Preston
tomorrow, as well as floral displays by Julie Pearson. The highlight of Saturday will he the Miss Royal Lancashire contest. Judges be looking for competitors with happy, out going personalities, good presentation and deportment as well as a sure sense of style. This year’s competition is open to Lan
cashire girls aged between 16 and 25, dressed to impress in their summer frocks. The winner will receive £250 in prize money, plus other attractive prizes. The Miss Royal Lancashire competition
takes place in the Ladies’ Marquee at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
